Female guards plead no contest to sex activity at all-male prison

Two former prison guards have pleaded no contest to charges they engaged in improper sexual activity with inmates at an all-male prison in Beaumont in December.
Monica Mahoney, 22, and Ingrid Fisk, 22, entered pleas before State District Judge Charles Carver on Monday. They will be sentenced July 29.A Jefferson County grand jury also has indicted Latisha Trahan, 25, of Port Arthur and Chastity Broussard, 21, of Beaumont.
All four women were arrested in January after a Texas Department of Criminal Justice investigation of the alleged sexual misconduct was captured on hidden surveillance cameras. The equipment was installed in the control room of a Stiles Unit dorm after complaints were filed regarding staff members and offenders having sex. The unit can hold 2,900 inmates.
According to court documents, Broussard was accused of assisting, promoting and encouraging Fisk to have sexual contact with an inmate by having sexual contact on Dec. 22 with a fellow employee in the control room of Dorm 18 at the Stiles Unit. Trahan was accused of the same violation on the same date. Officials said Fisk and an inmate were captured on videotape entering a rest room. The videotape showed Fisk exiting the restroom to get a towel and then going back into the restroom. According to investigative reports, she denied having sexual intercourse, but later admitted she allowed the inmate to fondle her. Officials said Mahoney was captured on videotape embracing an inmate at a place believed to be the unit's barber shop. She denied have sexual intercourse with the inmate, but later admitted she fondled the offender in a sexual manner.
