PRISON SUPERVISOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTED FEMALE
Indictment Alleges Associated Press

HOUSTON - A former supervisor at a federal prison camp in East Texas has been indicted on nine counts of violating the civil rights of four female inmates he is accused of sexually abusing over the past two years.

The federal indictment against Charles Keith Alexander, 36, was announced Tuesday by James DeAtley, U.S. attorney for the southern district of Texas.

Federal prosecutors allege Alexander, while serving as cook supervisor at the prison camp in Bryan, engaged in sexual activity with three female inmates on six occasions from summer 1997 through July 1998.

He also is accused of engaging in sexual contact with a fourth inmate with the intent to "abuse, humiliate, harass, degrade, arouse and gratify" from January 1998 through March.

If convicted, Alexander faces up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine on each of the first six counts, and up to six months in prison and a $5,000 fine on the three other counts.

Hey Luke, The warden of Maui Community Correctinal Center. was charged with sexual assault on a female inmate last month. An ACO of the facility helped this victimized woman, by sneaking a letter out of prison that this lady had wrote, and took it straight to the prosecuting attorneys office for investigation. It happened over a 3 or 4 month span, with the unconsenting victim. Real big news here in Hawaii, because of the governmental postion this man holds, who was appointed to this position by the govenor of Hawaii. I don't understand why it's called sexual harrasment. If the woman was unconsenting, isn't that rape? As of now he is suspended from duty, and is out on bail. I am so appalled at what this warden has done. Isn't he appointed to take this major responsibility of a job, to make sure that Maui Correctional runs appropriatly, with regards to the laws of the state of Hawaii. Aloha.
