I don't know if this applies to all prisons or not so I'll just post this here. Last weekend at Baldwin there was an announcement that as of July 11th if you did not arrive by 10am don't bother showing up until after 11:30am. They are apparently doing count and won't allow you in.

The funny thing is that on Sunday I arrived at 10:30am and they wouldn't let me in. I was told I could go in and wait until 11:30am or come back. The previous weekend I arrived at 10:30am and went right in. So my conclusion is that the July 11th start date was somewhat bogus. They started it last Sunday.

They were also rude and inconsiderate last weekend, which is the first time I had experienced that. Usually the guards are somewhat pleasant and at least attempt to be nice. Some are better than others, that's for sure.

Point is, if you're going to Baldwin don't bother between the hours of 10:00am and 11:30am.. they won't let you in.

I had a great visit with my boyfriend but it was shorter on Sunday because of this new, premature rule.

That sounds funny,,we were always told to be there by 11 am or wait till after 1 pm,,as for the guards,,they are ALWAYS RUDE,,there really is only one or two that was ever nice in any shape form or fashion,,thats a given for Baldwin SP,,in fact they tend to treat the family worse than inmates,,Im glad we are out of there,,,

I have been going to Baldwin SP for over a year now to visit my boyfriend. They have always done count at 11 and always ask my boyfriend when he comes in for visitation if he will be staying through count. My boyfriend has been there since 2006 and I know his family came for a visit after he was transferred from county and because they got lost and came in around 11 they had to wait until count was over. I would say the rule has been there the whole time just not inforced as it should have been.

My hubby's been at Burruss and Scott and they both have always had the same rule... You can't enter from 11:45-1:00-ish. At Burruss we had all day visits, from 9-3 and it wasn't that big of a deal... Now at Scott, they have it screwed up because inmates with A-M are 9-12 on Sat and 12-3 on Sun and inmates N-Z are 12-3 on Sat and 9-12 on Sun.... This sucks because the 12-3 visit is really more like 1-1:30, not 12:00!!!! And they WILL make you wait!!!! It doesn't matter if it's hotter than fire outside... You will wait until count clears!!!
