View Full Version : Who gets visits
darkbluegirl 01-11-2004, 12:12 PM Just curious, I am going out of my mind, I don't get visits, this last October I got the only one in ten years, but it was only a one shot deal. It is because I have a record, even though it is old. He is getting more and more upset, the ten year mark, it hurt him bad. I am trying again, this time with a lawyer, but I was curious as to how often and when people visit. Is anyone else in my position? :cuffs: :argh
I live far away and have not visited yet, but am planning to go this year. I am on B's list and am allowed to visit. I wish I lived closer so I could visit regularly, but I can't, so....
I am sorry you can't visit your man! I wish you luck sorting it out!!!
For the first 4 1/2 years of his sentence I lived out of state so I didn't see him that much. I moved back to my home state and now see him just about every week. If I go on the weekend, I can see him for 2 hours. If I take a day off from work during the week I see him for 4. It's a 1 1/2 hour drive each way.
That visit in October must have been such a special day! I'm so happy they made an exception for you. Good luck with getting those visits! You sure deserve it after all this time that's for sure!
sonzmom 01-11-2004, 02:27 PM How long are visits anyway? I mean, we will have to drive 4 hrs to get there, one way, and do not mind but I do not know how long the visits are per day and how many can visit at a time? In California?
darkbluegirl 01-11-2004, 04:26 PM I don't know, if your man is in a BOP facility, like mine it isn't the same, I got to visit from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, if your man is in a Cali facillity, post in the cali forum and some one will come around and say.
lonewulf 01-11-2004, 10:45 PM I visit every weekend and it's about a 2 hour drive each way. Our visits are from 10-3:30. I have visited since day 1 and it wasn't until this last Oct. that I ever had a problem. I submitted a new app. and came back as a co-def. so all was denied. I had to prove everything had been dismissed but the fact that I had been a co-def. itself is a no-no. In Colo. the time is 3 yrs, which it has been, but I still had to write the warden and to custody control to explain that I would not be a security threat. We got visits back right before X-mas. I hope you find someone who can help you-you have waited a long time! Good Luck!!
msvbabygirl 01-12-2004, 12:36 PM I think I may have responded to an identical question in another forum...not sure if you ask it or not, but anyhoo, I have an assult and battery charge on my record. He was going through a divorce at the time but was not final, and I was approved. I applied as a friend. I do get to see him every week, but he is only about 3 hrs. away. Visits are from 8:30-3:00. I didn't have a problem and hopefully when he transfers to a low I wont have a problem either. Crossing fingers!
kreepsgirl 01-12-2004, 12:59 PM I visit about 2 times a month. Have you written a letter to the warden in hopes of getting approved to visit? My friend had to do the same thing before she was approved to see her husband. Just curious, I am going out of my mind, I don't get visits, this last October I got the only one in ten years, but it was only a one shot deal. It is because I have a record, even though it is old. Ms Lana 01-18-2004, 11:58 PM Darkbluegirl,
I hope that this all can be worked out for you and your man. I know how important visits are to our loved ones as welll as for those of us who love them. I am very blessed that I have the opportunity to visit Thur - Sun 8-230 (well until they change visiting in Feb. to just Sat & Sun), I am only 20 minutes away from him and I get out there at least two times if not three times a week. I take full advantage that we can be together so often, because I know so many of you who don't have this same opportunity and we never know when this could change for us.
I will keep you in my prayers and that you get to visit soon.
Lana
R.T.s~angel 01-27-2004, 04:15 PM No visits here either. They moved him like 14 hours away. Thanks BOP. I can't drive that well, and plus my car is older and making it all that way would be questionable. I would go in it if I could talk someone else into going with me and even pay them to do the driving LOL But his family isn't going to visit him and nobody else would really care enough to do it. :-( I keep praying for a miracle, because he's gonna be there for a long while.
whichru80 01-27-2004, 08:43 PM i havent visited in almost 15 years and i was denied again a few weeks ago but i will keep trying
