Aha...I found it. I have officially been asked to come and visit my pen pal at Staton. I am very excited yet very nervous and scared. I have never been in a prison. Yikes! Plus I have never met this man face to face. We talk on the phone at least 3 times a week but that is not in person. We have been pen pals for 7 months now. I am so stoked about meeting him but so scared and nervous! Any of you guys have any input? I know this is a hot little subject. :D

I was in similiar shoes about four months ago. I actually searched on line for my first true love and low and behold i found him at ALDOC. I had not spoken to him in over 18 years and i went to visit about four months ago. If you would like to ask me any questions I would love to be able to answer them four you. I will give you a few things going in that I would like to have known the first time ever going to a prison. If I dont answer the questions you have just let me know and if by chance we happen to be able to visit on the same day i wouldn't mind being your guide.

Every time I go there you never know whether they are going to issue numbers. They usually let you line up about 40 minutes before visiting time. The closer you are to the front of the line the more time you will have to spend. No Jewelry and sometimes they are weird about the clothes you wear. Don't wear white.or light beige. Just in case I always take an extra set of clothes to change into incase they don't like what I am wearing. I drive over four hours to see him and I dont want to take the chance of them turning away. Make sure your shirt isn't to tight or come down to low. Make sure you wear underwear and if you wear a skirt it comes down past your knees and that you have to wear a slip. Your shirts must have sleeves. If the sleeves are to short then they will make you change.
You can talke thirty dollars in silver change only. you have to have it in a clear bag. I went to Walmart and got a clear make up bag to put the change in. It will have to be loose if it isn't they will make you they will unroll it.
Once you get in if you want anything to eat or drink get it when you first get in because it goes fast. I am not sure if either of you smoke but if you do you have to buy cigarettes inside. and they give you matches. You can choose to visit outside or inside. you dont feel as confined outside. During the visit they will have to get up and be counted. During that time I allowed my self to breathe and take a minute to get used to the surroundings.
About a half an hour before the visit is over they make every one come in side.
You can kiss and hug when you get there and when you leave. You may be able to get some kisses sneaked in between guards.
You can hold hands.
If you look like you are to close or if they dont like how you are standing or talking they come and call you out.
