Here's some info from another site:

Hi, I have been a member for a while but to be honest i forgot I joined and realized it tonight. I had to deal with Franklin Corr. fac for about 3 years. first it was with my boyfriend and then after I moved to Malone I went in to see a few friends from time to time when their loved ones couldn't make it in because of weather or whatever. The officers for lack of a better term are pricks. They are all judgemental and make it obvious that they are annoyed that you would have the nerve to visit an inmate, convict or prisoner for any reason. they get their kicks out of tormented you and your loved ones in any way they can. Someone told me that a good number of the officers were forced off of public assistance and into jobs at the dept. of corrections and they resent it. They would really rather be out fishing and hunting than supervising our visits.
Never take for granted what is on the package list as it really depends on who is processing the packages and what mood they are in. They would let things in one week and then 2 weeks later it wasn't allowed.
The only person I dealt with at that facility that I can't say a bad thing about is Father Edwards. whether you are religious or not and regardless of your faith and beliefs the man is a true gem.
As far as hotels go Dreamland, Sunset Motel and Clark's Motel are the least expensive and all are located on Rte 11 (which is a main street) (generally between $30 to $40 a night) The cabs in town are taxi 2000 and Taxi r Us. Both have the same rates. Personally I would reccommend taxi 2000 but that's just me.

YOU CAN BRING 35 POUND TO HIM I WOULD ADVISE YOU MAIL THE PACKAGE 4 DAYS BEFORE YOU GO AND MARK THE PACKAGE PERISHABLE!!! AND SEND IT CONFIRMATION OF DELIVERY IT'S ONLY A EXTRA 35CENTS. ON YOUR ARRIVAL, THE VISITORS TRALER WILL BE OPEN, YOU IMMEDIATELY GET OFF THE BUS AND SIGN IN TO GET YOUR NUMBER AND LOCKER KEY, YOU THEN CAN WASH UP AND CHANGE CLOTHES AND EAT BREAKFAST OR DRINK SOME COFFEE. THEY HAVE IT THERE IN THE TRAILER. YOUR VISIT IS UNTIL 3:30 PM. REMEMBER, THEY SET THEIR CLOCK AHEAD 15 MINUTES SO THE VISITORS CAN LEAVE EARLY. THESE ARE JUST SOME INSIDE TRICKS OF OFFICERS.

Thanks Val!!

I appreciate all your feedback. I'm going up there for the first time on Sat. Hopefully it won't be so bad, but I guess I'll find out!

How much longer until your husband comes home? I wish you the best of luck!

My experience wasn't bad either. I got in early enough (around 9:00 am) so I got to see him for awhile. The only thingI didn't realize is that you have to pay for a picture when you first come in...So we didn't get a picture ;-( Oh well, next time!

The co's are not the worst I've seen yet. They will answer your questions but you do get the feeling they would rather you didn't ask them anything. They pretty much leave you alone during your visit. Just behave according to the rules and don't be concerned with their personality. If they are rude to you, complain to albany the facility and anyone who will listen. Don't be threatend by any co who disrespects you.If there are any repecussions towards your loved one, complain again. Everyone has a boss and can be held accountable for mistreatment of inmates and visitors.

malone.....this is so funny. i grew up there. (thank god i moved) the last time i was ther was 15 yrs ago.
first off i most likely went to school with most of the c/o's i wonder how they pass the test? or did they take one. yes they are red neck north country hillbillies, how would rather be hunting, fishing drinking beer! do they get drug tested?

when i live up there there was nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! except tru stich sho company. do they still sell those red hot dogs? i never seen them down here, it has to be a malone thing. bare hill the good old days, before the prison, thats were we would go to party.

tell me how the town has changed.. maybe some day i'll take a ride up to visit cousins

Sorry, no trailer visits @ Franklin Corr. Fac., and they've even taken away full weekend visting. Only 1 day depending on what the inmates last din# is! Call before you show up, or you may be sorely dissappointed!
