I have to post this, and I hope I can convey the way I feel. Yesterday, I went to see my husband in the halfway house. He was placed there Friday.
The two tastes he missed most of all were fresh fruit and good bread, so...I brought a huge bag of apples, oranges, pears, strawberries and three kinds of bread from the bakery. He devoured it! The look on his face when he bit into the first strawberry....made me realize how much we take for granted.

We then decided that we could not possibly not share our bounty and joy with others. We invited the men, one by one, to come take a piece of fruit. They were so tentative, not sure how to take this offer. "Are you sure I can have a piece??"

Once they knew it was ok, they would break into a grin and choose a piece. I can still see the looks on their faces when they tasted them. It was wonderful.

Paul and I believe that our love is magic, and that we can infuse others with our magic. Yesterday proved our theory. At dinner, Paul passed the bread around and everyone used it to sop up their gravy.

A wonderful day. Can't stop smiling!!! :D

I just wanted to say that those first tastes of freedom is what I look forward to, and it sounds as if you both are in deed, very caring people. It almost makes me cry to think of my husband having a taste of freedom and it won't be long. Thanks for making me feel how it must feel to these guys. Lisa

Thanks for sharing that magic with us! I realize how much I take for granted daily and it hit home when I got a letter from Brandon yesterday that said how much he missed the feel of wind on his face and how much he missed seeing the stars. My plans now include taking him out to the family farm at night to sit, wrapped in a blanket, watching the stars. Three more weeks and it's a reality!!

That sounds wonderful. I remember my husband's reaction when he had the real food again. Of course it was when he got to honor grade and we were allowed to bring food.

Best wishes for the both of you
