Okay my husband will go up for parole review in August and he continues to say that "if the parole board allows him, he will parole to my house" or he may have to parole to his mother's house in Dallas. Well of course I want him to parole to our home in Houston. My husband is from Dallas and that is where he committed his crime. I want to know what I need to do to have him parole to Houston and how soon should I make the request? Where would I make a request like this? I do not want to move to Dallas and my job and stability is here in Houston. Please advise with info.

When I went to the meeting they had in Huntsville last year they were talking about that. If I remember, anyone correct if i am wrong, they prefer for them to parole back to the county they commited the crime in. They were saying they would consider it if that person had noone they could parole out to in that county. I know I was wondering why would they want them to go back to the place they got in trouble in, you would think they would encourge them to seek housing somewhere else, but they claim that came about cause so many would get out and alot of them would move to a certain county and some higher ups didnt like it so now they try to send you back to your county.
Hope thats a little help, I am sure someone will come along and either add to what I said or have the right answer either way I am sure you will get somemore help soon, we have alot of very smart people here.
Blessings

The law states that a releasee is supposed to return to the county of conviction unless the presence of factors elsewhere will increase the likelihood of successfully completing the period of supervision.
Those exceptions are referred to as CORE's- County of Residence Exceptions. The Board approves those on a regular basis.
Except where the wife is an identified victim of the offense, I am not aware of anything that should keep Ms. Low's husband from coming out to her residence.
The release plan is actually given by the inmate during the IPO interview and then confirmed after a favorable vote has taken place. The family does not have to do anything to get their address noted in the file.

Thanks CenTexLyn. That makes me alot better. So when my husband gives his release plan should he only give my address? He told me he would give my address and his mother's to show that he has more than one place to go. I told him to list my address only.

It probably would be good to have a secondary address just in case something fell through. Where there would be more of an issue is if you were just a friend and the mother was in the county of offense.
Make sure he also has all of the phone numbers that the agency can contact you at which will help expedite processing once the file reaches that point. Most release plans are approved by telephone contact as opposed to knocking on the door...

Mrs. Low:
At the time the PO meets with your husband, she/he will ask what his primary address that he wants to be paroled to is. And she will ask for a secondary address, just in case the primary isn't approved.
In our case, we've included in his parole packet an "employment letter" showing that Arthur has a job waiting for him here in Dallas. We still haven't heard from anyone, whether his paroled is approved or denied.
Good luck to you.

Thanks for the information. I was beginning to worry about what was going to happen and I did not want to move to Dallas.

How funny, both Arthur and I are from Houston. We were both born and raised in there. I have lived in Dallas now over 11 years and I have no intention on ever moving back. And Arthur feels the same way. Houston was no good for either of us. Dallas feels clean and fresh and new and when I moved here, it was my new beginning, and I've never regretted it. And now Arthur feels the same. Good luck to you.
