When we got to the gate this morning, there was a line of cars out the gate and down the road. We were car number 18 in line. It took us an hour and a half to get to the number 1 position in line to get through the gate. Then when we got to the visitor check in, we waited outside in line another 30 minutes. Apparently they were training a new person, laughing at her slowness and mistakes and having a great little party of their own. I appreciate their friendliness, but the time it took to get us through was ridiculous.

The rumor went through both lines that visitation was full and that was the hold up. When we finally got inside, we saw that clearly was not the case. There were plenty of open spaces ... they were just not going to move at a normal pace.

The gate guard told me they've changed their procedures and to expect it to be this way from here on out. So ... now I'll have to plan an extra 2-1/2 hours to my visit just to get inside to see him. :(

I knew when I went on the 24th the guard said it took 2 1/2 hours to get in on
saturday and I waited 45 minutes on Sunday.
It take me 3 hours to drive down I guess it will be a very long day

Last weekend was MUCH better ... took 15 minutes to get through the gate and no waiting in line to check in. Hopefully, they've got the bugs in new procedures worked out, because it was pretty smooth sailing. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as nice.

This week was even better! NO line at the gate ... I drove right up! Got through in a few minutes, and NO line at the visitor check in! Whoop de do! They've got their new procedures down, and it was a breeze for everyone! Hats off to all of them!

Now, my son also told me today that his experience there has been that the corrections officers and everyone he has come in contact with has treated him and all other inmates with respect. He says it's a much nicer, calmer atmosphere than at Holliday. SO! Moms, dads, other loved ones ... you can rest a little easier. Anyone else reading this ... hats off to you for jobs well done!

Are u sure this is a new thing? I been there where I have had to wait 2 hrs to get in and then the next time I visit it was only a small wait.. just to get the car in and etc. But hey I will wait as long as they let me see my boyfriend. Now.. if only they would just let us have contact visits. Dang rules. hehe

All I know is the experience I've had there these past weeks, and what they tell me. Time will tell the rest. I'm thrilled that they've been friendly, cheerful and have gotten us through the process so well the last two weeks.
