MsLynn 01-07-2004, 10:06 AM It really makes you feel better for a minute when they treat your loved one like their life outside the prison is important. Thanks all it was good to hear my sons voice .
LeaAnn 01-07-2004, 10:30 AM Well that is really great to hear that you were able to talk to him finally after all this time. And how cool that you found a c.o. that let you talk to him too. I bet you feeling great after hearing his voice again.
bafriend 01-07-2004, 12:36 PM Because so many of the guards are less than friendly, it is really refereshing to come across someone who realizes that inmates are people too. I am happy you had the chance to speak with your son.
Valerie 01-07-2004, 12:45 PM it's good to hear something nice.

blessed_be 01-07-2004, 04:18 PM I met some really decent guards when I was visiting SQ twice a week for a year. Some of them really went out of their way to extend courtesies to me.

jojo71 01-07-2004, 04:36 PM Wow...great to hear this!!! I am soooo happy that you got a chance to talk to your son...I know that in my "county jail" theere are alot of "good" guards that will go out of their way to help out an inmate and I did run into a few while I wuz at State...:)
DENIMBLUE 01-07-2004, 06:34 PM It's nice to hear that good people do work inside with our loved ones!
MsLynn 01-07-2004, 06:41 PM Yea it always make us feel better to know the guards that are around our family, actually treat them right. I hope I don't have to face this again. But then there is still my son Aaron to worry about.
mizblack 01-07-2004, 07:32 PM That's wonderful what he did! Glad you got to talk to your son.
dgirl 01-07-2004, 08:36 PM The guards and even the super at the county jail where my guy was were really cool they would give him messages for me all the time - sometimes it would just be the middle of the day and I would be thinking of him I'd call n' they would tell him. Where he is now = they won't unless it's an emergency - or you can convince his counslor to.
lovinbilly4ever 01-07-2004, 11:03 PM thats great!! :)
MsAloha1018 01-07-2004, 11:06 PM I'm glad that something good happened to you. I find that there are good people everywhere, guards included. The ones that aren't nice, I think it's either because they've had a bad day or they've just got nasty personalities. If I'm polite and minimize contact with the crabby ones we're both better off for it.
TxRenee 01-07-2004, 11:10 PM Thanks for sharing..... Thats so awesome! I have met several really nice CO's at some of the Oklahoma Prisons Tony has been in.
MsLynn 01-08-2004, 05:51 AM I enjoy sharing this with all of you.
Dragon1975 01-08-2004, 12:36 PM Bless him!!thats awesome
MsLynn 01-08-2004, 05:47 PM It was the best feeling in the world to know that someone cared enough to look out
Kandee 01-09-2004, 10:51 AM That is great.
MsMagnificent 01-14-2004, 12:39 PM I met some really decent guards when I was visiting SQ twice a week for a year. Some of them really went out of their way to extend courtesies to me.
In my 5+ experience with the NYS DoC I found that the affect of the guards in each individual prison tells pretty much the entire story of how it is inside...
for example, Attica guards were 'nice' to your face and sneering behind your back. Great Meadows didn't feel they had to hide their mega-mean attitudes and negative (or illegal) actions at all. *Very* nasty. Toothless too.
An aside: They were almost gleeful when they found --on an illegal search mind you, as my purse was going into a locker and nowhere near the visiting room-- when they found a film canister... giving each other meaningful smirks as they opened it, ready to arrest me...
It contained unexposed film! http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif (Make that smiley face with some of the teeth blacked out! :)
First thing my husband said to me on our first visit at Great Meadows: "They've all got bodies in here."
I'm like Bodies? Huh?? Of COURSE they've got bodies....'
He said "No. They've all KILLED someone"
*eek* http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif
Dannemora, a Max A & B facility, was very businesslike. The guards for the most part had no attitude (although a few kept hitting on me ;), they just wanted to do their job as safely as possible; and as ex-hubby spent most of his sentence in the Max there I was very grateful & thankful.
There's a saying that the only difference between guards and inmates is the guards get to go home at night. It's a highly stressful venue for just about anyone.
MsLynn 01-22-2004, 04:36 PM hey all , I want to thank you for reading this and sharing it with me. Being here for each other is what this is all about Yes I now have a new name. Thanks again
Aaron's Girl 04-28-2004, 01:52 PM That's so sweet!!! I'm so glad you got a good one to help you guys out! ~Kimber
