I know everyones reasons for not writing is different but I am just so stressed about this.Every day when I get the mail I feel like crying :( I think all these crazy reasons in my head why he isn't writing but obviously don't know the real reason.
It's been about 3 1/2 weeks since I have heard from him.I dont even know if he got any of the $ or cute little Christmas stuff I sent him.I sent pre stamped envelopes and paper so it can't be that unless for some reason they took his property away.His Mom talked to his counseler last week and he said that he was alive and well and still in Ad Seg possible going to the SHU this week so its not that anything is wrong w him or he is in transition to the SHU.There are things that we were waiting to find out about such as his SHU sentence,if the DA was picking up his case or not and if he would be coming back here for a hearing involving his kids and their Mom next month so it kind of shocks me that he hasn't kept in touch.Then I wonder if maybe he is really depressed about his extra time or crazy crap like maybe he is sick of me or found a lil pen pal.I don't know maybe I'm overreacting it just kind of worries me,bums me out not hearing from him as I miss him and is starting to make me a bit po'd if there is no good reason for not at least replying everythings ok to my numerous postcards and letters.

don't know if this will be any consolation, but my friend, recently out of the SHU, told me his mail is taking anywhere from 18 to 24 days to get to him. the things he writes seem to get out in a timely manner, got a letter yesteday written on dec 30, but he'd not gotten anything from me in weeks. i wrote on 12/19 and 12/26 but he made no mention of recieving anything. last phone call he said he's not sure why incoming mail is being held up, but it's pissing him off pretty good. not sure what, if anything, we can do about it but i know how you feel when you get nothing for so long, your brain imagines all sorts of things. i guess keep the faith is all we can do from here.

I know how you feel Pelican Bay has to be one of the worse for mail and I think it’s disgusting that they do this.

I honestly believe he is sending things out to you and that it is just the mail on slow AGAIN. My husband was saying that he had waiting over 20 days for a card from his Mum (this was back in August) and she is only in South CA, same sodding State!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know its hard because all we have is letters, but I’m sure it is just the mail, they probably think its punishment for him because he is in Ad Seg and soon to be sent to SHU.

I got a letter today finally! Yep the mail is taking a month or longer to get to him now :( He hasn't been writing because he hasn't recieved the envelopes and paper I sent yet and didnt have any of his own until store.ALSO this is the good part hee hee because he says he started to write about 10 times while waitimg for an envelope but was to chicken to send it as he didnt know how to spit out what he had to say.He told me that he loves me and that he does want a serious relationship with me and me alone (Some of you know he is my ex and we were trying to figure out what we were going to do about our relationship,he said he wasn't ready for another commited relationship as he just got divorced) but thats all changed now :) Yippee! Said a ton more wonderful stuff but I won't bore ya....Anyways he is still in ad seg going to the SHU on an 18 month sentence within the next few weeks.No news from the DA yet wether they are picking up his case wich will give him more time after his SHU term.... no news is good news hopefully!
Whew! I feel so much better now that I heard from him!

Congrats!!!!!! I knew it had something to do with the mail or the facility itself. That DA crap kinda drags on for awhile. My brother has been in the SHU for 2 + uears and they just decided this year not to prosecute. My brother's attorney would go up there and end just visiting with my brother because there was no case. He would tell him since they're paying me to come and do this I am, but there is really nothing to discuss regarding this case. And they would just sit and shoot the breeze. And it gave my brother time out of his cell. Which we know isn't very often.

But the mail sucks up there. In my brother' s letter today he said the mailroom is being cut and it is taking longer for him to receive his mail and magazines. Well who the hell is going to processing the mail. Will they just let the stuff pile up for a couple of months or what. Isn't this a call for a lawsuit? Knowingly and willingly withholding correspondence. Sorry, I'm venting on your thread.

Vent away! The mail situation there sucks! I think even the postcards are taking long now because his Mom and I have both been sending them and he made no mention of them in his letter and asked about some stuff I had answered on a postcard weeks ago!!!!

I am happy you received a letter from him. :) I know how you guys feel. It takes a month for Richard to receive mail from me and then I am waiting all that time for a letter. I even tried writing 2-3x a week to try and offset it, but that doesn't even work sometimes because they hold the letters.
Sigh.

It's good to hear that you got your letter from him. The mail anywhere sucks and the holidays push the mail back also.

I dont blame you for being nervous ~ my first reaction is to always think the worse case. You sound like me I worry like crazy if I miss a call or dont get a letter.

This mail thing does suck and I think it's awful how they can get away with it.

:pissed: HA EVERY ONEAT PTO WAITING AND WAITING! i am ken'smom (waynette) i just heard from my son on sunday by phone.he is housed in B6-123 i am not sure where that is exactly but it had been over 5 if not 6 weeks since his last call, with no letters at all eather. he said they had been on LOCKDOWN FOR MORE THAN 2 WEEKS. he said that ther had been an uprise, where as he put it, one of thier own had lost an eye! not sure what any of that really means,just thought i would sare. i sent $$ to the new outside vendor called access,that supplies prisons with inmates stuff,i mailed it in (hope ya know what i mean) ANYWAY ,THAT WAS IN SEPTEMBER! the 24th to exact.all that stuff just sitting ther for so long just BURNS ME UP TO NO ENDDDDDDD.i know for a fact that the package was there because i got a curtious call from actcess they track all thier stuff,they left the# here it is in case anyone needs it ok? 1-800-546-6283. it makes me feel very sad also for my son, when i did talk to him he sounded pretty good what really wished he had that coffee and the chew.if there is any thing that any of us as a group PLEASE COUNT ME IN:fb: GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU ,AND MAY WE ALL KEPT THE FAITH AND LOVE BYE FOR NOW LOVE YA ALL KEN'SMOM (WAYNETTE)

Just to let you know that my hubby is back at Pelican Bay after his so called eye operation, that never actually happened :rolleyes:

Anyway he sent a letter dated December 28th and I received it yesterday (January 8th) so not to bad, considering it comes to me in the UK :D

So I think maybe the backlog is clearing.......hopefully :p

It sucks when you dont hear from them, and you know they havn't gotten your letter so their worried just as much as you. My brother hasn't gotten any of the 4 letters I've sent in the past 2 months. A letter from him dated Dec.1st just got to my Grandmother yesterday. Some of the things I wrote him are very important and he needs to know them, and he doesnt because Pelican Bay officials thin out the mail room workers? Its just crap. It should not be happening... I remember when I thought the week for my letter to get to him, and the week for his letter to get back to me was long, Ha. Hope everyone gets to hear from their Family and friends in the Bay.

FINALLY...word from within! got a phone call from my buddy Walter this evening, i was really getting concerned about him. got a short note by mail earlier in the week but was just a quick " hello, i'm ok" thing. i was happy to hear his voice again. he said he got a letter from me just today, one i mailed on dec 4th. that means he's got about 4 more lost in limbo somewhere. budget cuts are to blame he says, not enough people working the mailroom. certainly seems to me, as much as they take from these men, they'd find some way to at least get them their mail in a timely fashion. anyway, i'm relieved he's well, and to BSS, he says yes, he does remember you

oh, almost forgot, he says the Learning Channel was there doing some filming and he, along with a few others, will be on that channel March 4th...watch for it

Glad to hear that slowly everyone is starting to hear from loved ones!

I hadn't heard from my husband in two weeks when I got a letter from him dated January 11th a few days ago. He was responding to a letter he received from me that was dated Dec. 4th! It took him over a month to get that letter. Which means he has not received the Christmas card I sent him three weeks before Christmas, nor has he gotten the numerous other letters, envelopes or even the money that I sent him through priority mail.

He says everyone is stressing over the mail. In fact, on Sundays the inmates listen to an oldies show out of Arcata called KHSU 90.5FM and the D.J. Sista Soul, gave them a name and telephone number for a congresswoman or state senator out of Sacramento to call and complain too. My husband passed it on to me and asked me to call, so now I'm passing it all on to you. Maybe this will help. Gloria Romero (916) 445-1418.
