View Full Version : FCI cumberland , md
kylasma 01-06-2004, 01:47 PM :fb: My husband is incarcerated at the FCI cumberland md. I wondered if anyone else had a loved one there. I don't get to see him much I'm only 2 and a half hours away in virginia but my car is old, and we have a small child, and i'd hate to break down with her in the cold. It really is hard to be so close but yet so far, but some of you are really far away and have no choice. I think of all of you, and hope the best for all of you and your loved ones.

nubiantwin 01-06-2004, 03:21 PM I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been able to visit your husband. Have you checked the "What Maryland Prison or Jail is your loved one at?" to see if anyone has a loved one there?

I don't have anyone in Cumberland...kinda wish he was!
We are with the federal system too....only they house him in Texas...way to far!
Anyhow.....I don't believe I welcomed you yet!
Welcome to PTO!
Don't know if you know....but there is a federal forum in the states area....very first one. You may want to take a look in there if you haven't already!

Norvell's Girl 08-05-2006, 03:00 PM well my fiance' is in cumberland and I go to visit him once a month. I car pool with another girl who's man is in there also. we will be going this coming up friday august 11. what part of virginia are you in? is it off of I-68? let me know, and then we will take it from there.
Ifoundhim 08-07-2006, 10:41 AM Norvell's Girl, I will be visiting Cumberland FCI for the first time over Labor Day Weekend. I would love any information you would like to share regarding visitation. Feel free to pm me if you'd like.
kintml2u 08-16-2006, 04:58 AM Geez...I wish they would move someone from MD...to MD! :D
THis thread was started in 2004 so it's a bit old. We know the BOP and how they transfer their residents so who knows if this members loved one is still there. You may try to pm her...you might have better luck at a response that way. I'd like to learn more about this location in hopes that in the future..it could be even though there are others that are still closer outside of MD. Anyinformation you share...could always help another!
Ifoundhim 08-17-2006, 03:37 PM I have spoken via pm with Norvell's Girl and she has been extremely helpful. I am visiting in 2 weeks and will share when I return. Hopefully he will be being transfered closer at some point, right now Cumberland is well over 600 miles away...
Ms JoJo 10-10-2006, 10:08 AM I drive to Cumberland and if anyone would like to carpool sometimes let me know. I try to go once a month. I live in DC. I will be visiting Sunday, October 15 if anyone is interested, I will rent a car - I leave about 6am.
missingdad418 10-11-2006, 08:16 AM my dad is in FCI cumberland I live in Massachusetts so I haven't been able to visit him there....i do get to talk to him on the phone sometimes
Ms JoJo 10-11-2006, 09:05 AM i'm glad you get to talk with him on the phone, hopefully you will get to see him, the winter is tough in that part of Maryland, especially when it snows so if you get to visit anytime soon do it before the winter!! take care
Ifoundhim 10-17-2006, 01:59 PM I have made the trip twice to Cumberland so far and am trying really hard to go every month but its a 9 hour drive and I am really worried about the winter weather.
Ifoundhim 11-10-2006, 12:16 PM Has anyone else gotten emails from Cumberland FCI? I just got the standard email from the "system" yesterday afternoon and am waiting on my first email from my dad. :)
missingdad418 11-25-2006, 12:13 AM My dad is emailing me alot now it's so much better because our schedules don't match up and I always miss my Dad's calls the email has been great but he did say a couple of his addresses took longer to be approved and up and running but once the system standard email arrives it won't be long..good luck!
Ms JoJo 12-19-2006, 11:51 AM I have been getting emails from my man it is wonderful, both our schedules are a little crazy and it is nice to receive an email almost everyday!! I can print them out and save them also. Regular is still the best but I love emails!!!:D
Ifoundhim 12-21-2006, 11:25 AM I get emails 2 or 3 or more a day now from my dad. It's really a good thing especially since we are so far apart and don't get to visit often.
tracy74 12-21-2006, 02:11 PM Is this the only facility that can email?
Ms JoJo 12-21-2006, 03:06 PM This the only one I personally know about. The emails are delayed but it is faster than the postal service!! You can probably contact the facility your loved one is at to see if they have this set up.
Ifoundhim 12-21-2006, 03:08 PM There are several federal facilites that have email access but I am not sure about other facilities in Maryland if that is what you are asking.
It seems like there is usually about an hour delay although yesterday and today it seems to be longer...
daydreamer4l 12-21-2006, 05:04 PM After all the long prison terms and far distances... I just don't know how you ladies do it....
Visitation.
My brother-in-law is in Cumberland since early November. I sent my forms for visitation 8 weeks ago , and I haven't received any answer.
What do I have to do?
Thanks,
Bruno
Ifoundhim 01-29-2007, 08:29 AM The inmate will know whether you were approved on his list or not. Cumberland will not notify you one way or another. It only took about a week for me to be approved.
SHAWNS SUGARPIE 02-25-2009, 12:27 PM Yeah i feel all you girls on the distance thing cause im in charotte,nc and my man is in fci cumberland which is long way from here. So im trying to do the whole carpool thing as well.
Mamas2010 03-08-2009, 11:53 PM hello every1! i have a question for anyone who might deal with this or have any info...my boyfriend is two hours away from the school i currently go to and like most college students i have no car...does anyone know of some transportation ideas????
mrs g 03-09-2009, 12:03 AM my man just got moved to northbranch friday so now since i dont drive I will not be able to see him at all. I cryed and cryed. but we will get throw this.
sgib2681 04-03-2009, 12:34 AM Im getting ready to go to FCI for the next 3 years can anyone tell me about what its like there. Its the low security facility. I would greatly appreciate any info someone has on the place. Thank you.
tolong 04-04-2009, 01:50 PM sgib...you should be in the federal forum...FCI Cumberland is a federal prison and this forum is really for a state sentence. Anyway, FCI is medium security and a camp would be considered low security. My BF is at a USP and we are both from Calvert Co...I saw you are our neighbor from Waldorf :) You'll get alot more info if you go to the federal forum..it's right above all the states.
