Hey anyone that know anyone at Allenwood Low or have done the time there?

I'm just curious which unit your guys are at/ or those who have served time at Allenwood. :)

My friend has been at Allenwood since August 2008 and is in Lycoming B unit. Possibly some of your loved ones know him!?

Hey Ladies,

It's been nice getting to know all of you and sharing our stories...good and bad. I will no longer be coming to PTO. Everyone take care and be blessed!

OH Shona! It was great getting to know you... I'll PM you for your e-mail address, I would love to stay in touch with you. And eventually get to meet you one of those days when we go visit at Allenwood.

I still stay in touch with Karen (kuria) through facebook. It's wonderful to stay in touch with ladies I know from Allenwood!

I have not had anyone at Allenwood Low until now and I am trying to find out how long it takes to hear from them after they get there? He's been there 6 days and we have not heard anything. Worried mother

Coby - my brother went into Allenwood low in February and as federal prisons go, your son ? will need to complete a phone list and visitors list and both will need to go through the BOP to ensure phone #'s are legit and that all visitors will have a background check. My brother didn't call for 6 days so that is pretty typical for phone calls. As for visitation, I downloaded a form from the BOP website and then snail mailed it back to his COUNSELOR. It cannot go to the inmate directly and at Allenwood, the PO box for the main facility is 1500, not 1000 which is my brother's mailing address. Hope that helps - I know you worry, I cried for the first 6 days until we got that first call. Its all processing and approvals

God bless

All staff mails go directly to PO Box 1500 I believe, but the inmate mails go to PO Box 1000. That is my understanding anyway.

You will hear from your son soon! There will be a few inmates there that will help him out as in commissary, stamps, some clothes until he can go to the commissary to purchase things he needs. He will be fine.

My friend's in the Lycoming Unit... there are a few other ladies' loved ones is in Brady unit.

Pink - thanks for sharing. Yes, all correspondences go to Allenwood at PO Box 1500. My brother never forgot the cellies who GAVE him a lock for his locker, some brand new shirts, sweats, etc as it was FREEZING in February. He has paid them back through the commissary and agree w/ Pink

My brother's in brady
God bless!

Yeah it's kind of like an unspoken rule in prisons to help out inmates on their first day of their "vacation" with whatever they need. Because with the basic necessities the facility give you in prison won't last very long (tooth paste, tooth brush, cheap shampoo, toilet paper- that is what I know of).

Your son will encounter some nasty COs but some are decent and will give him respect if your son respects them back.
