Greetings! I am trying to find anything relating to helping my fiance possibly gain a grant or assistance in getting higher education and advance his employment. He was released from Angola this past July after serving 13 years. He's now working for a land-scaping company. It's not bad pay, but I know how intelligent he is and that he could do alot more with his mind other than this. I also think he needs something more challenging to keep his interest, he seems bored with the job. Or just some names of companies that do hire folks with records.

Also, I am trying to find out if there are some sort of general support systems for those released? So far, all I've heard about is the parole officer, and he only sees her once a month to pay his monthly fee. It's got to be a huge adjustment and I'm just trying to find resources to assist him with thess sometimes overwhelming issues.

We are in Louisiana. I've found many educational/employment sites for NY and California, but nothing for here, yet.

Thanks a bunch :)

Thank you, Mrs. Hernandez. I mentioned it to him and he said he will be looking into it. Sincerely appreciate the info :) Did I also read somewhere that UPS is known for hiring ex-felons?

Hi, I'm a Chaplain volenteer at the Henley unit outside of Dayton, Tex. I've just printed out a list of places that might be able to help one of the ladies going to Beaumont This is the web site I checked out www.f4matiws.com/EastSoutheastTXBiz/category_e2.html
Who knows, it might help. Maybe you can look up something like it in the search box? Good luck, and May God Bless.
