My fiance is waiting for a bed in rid.he is still at county. does anyone know anything bout this program?

I know it is a very strict Boot Camp program.

Military Boot camp in a prison. It is NOT a walkin the park. Must not balk at in rules, and follow everything he is told to the letter to pass. But it CAN be done

i def understand that just curious how visitation and communication is and how long the program is? nothing is the same we were told in the beginning bc we were told he would be a month at county and its been two months now ... so wondering how long he would be at rankin and then at rid... any help would be appreciated

Program is 6 months to 1 year.

Typically it IS one month at county. However the system is severly backed up. So it could be months at county.

Then he will be at R&C in Rankin (receiving and classification) for typically one month. But he will be there untill a spot opens up at RID. This could take one month, it could take 6 months.

Visitation is once a week or every other week. He can daily get mail Monday-Friday. And he can send mail. RID MAY allow phone calls daily. One call for 15 minutes (Very expensive) OR they can only allow them to call on the weekends.

Visitation is every other week, I believe 1st and 3rd Saturday from 9-12. You cannot bring in anything except ID and car key which gets turned in. No vending machine use for RID so no quarters allowed.

thank you so much for the info... hopefully he leaves this week but its gonna be hard with no communication for two months or so... i figurea month at rankin and the 35 days at rid with no communication... is it true for every piece of mail sent and recieved you have to do extra pt... i will be able to take my son right? do you know how many visitors are allowed at a time??

I think 2-3 visitors at a time.

You have to do PT regardless - so he will do it whether he gets mail or not.

wow only 2-3 visitors at a time thats going to be hard... there are so many of us that want to visit... i was hoping it was like 5 at a time... thats what someone else said it used to be but didnt know if it had changed ...

Typically it is up to 5. But I THINK they changed the rules for RID because of so many visitors to RID inmates - you would have to call to check

My brother is there now, has been since March. Visitation is every other saturday from 8-12, and only 3 ppl can go. yes you can bring your son. however there is NO smoking,.. eating or drinking,. NO access to vending machines, just a water fountain. you can only bring keys and ID, and those are taken. You vehicle HAS to be clean!! NOTHING in it, or they will turn you around,. nothing by guns, or weapons. nothing that 'might' could be used to take or use drugs. You WILL be turned around and he will lose his priviledges.

is the visitation the entire 4 hours ... or can you only stay a few mins or whatever... as far as the baby will they let me bring him a bottle and extra diaper at least??? he said he heard you could not have visitors or use the phone until you are on phase 3 is this true?? he also heard that you can do extra stuff to shorten your time or something ... how is your brother doing being there? is it really bad or just really busy? is it making a difference in his life? how long has he been gone since being in county til now and what phase is he in?
