I was just wondering who has someone currently in Old Folsom? My son is in there, I haven't visited yet. But I will soon! I hope more of you would post here 'cuz it would be nice to here what your thoughts are. Maybe we could get together and go in chat room. What do you think? I am in Porterville, California and I met someone from PTO who is from Visalia (that's about 30 minutes away from me!) We keep in touch and its been sooo nice! She will post later! This group is a big encouragement for me. Thanks all, Sincerely, Pauline

Hello Everyone, my name is Tanya and TJ Angel stands for: Tanya & Jose, and we have a Guardian Angel watching over us. My man is in Old Folsom and will be out on 8-21-07, so I don't have too much longer to go. I live in Stockton, only 40 minutes away from the Prison. I would love to chat and talk with others and hopefully we can Rideshare, go out and eat, hang out, and share our thoughts. Please put me on your Buddy List so we can chat online, or simply PM. I'm online daily!

My husband Simon just transferred to Old Folsom about a week and a half ago. I haven't been up to visit him yet, and I'm in L.A. so that's gonna be a long drive! I got a letter from him saying that he was in the "fish tank" and hasn't hit the mainline yet, but when he does, the prison will probably still be on lockdown. :( I hope they hurry up and get that stuff over with so he can call me!

I also have someone in Old Folsom. He has served thus far, 17 years of a 15 to life sentence. He was due to go in front of the parole board in May but with them being so backed up, he probly won't go until November. Arnold has granted parole for 4 lifers just in the last few weeks so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Hello ladies,

I have a penpal in Old Folsom. We have been writing olmost an year now. I just got letter from him and he said they have been on lockdown past 2 weeks and he suspected it'll continue God knows how long. That's funny you have so many "Jason's" there :) my friend is called Joshua so at least his name begins with "J" !! LOL :D

How long have they been on lockdown so far? Anyone know? And are they only able to write? No visits?

The guys have been on lockdown for several weeks now thanks to the new acting warden. A power tripper for real. They should be getting off this week or next. The lockdown was for no purpose other than to take their space away from them, cutting them down to 6 cubic feet of space. Alot of guys had to either throw stuff away or send it home. It really has been a hardship on them but they are appealing it and will hopefully win!

The wait is driving me crazy. And the bad things about my Man is if he calls me and I am not home, he is not able to call until another 7-10 days. We have made arrangments for certain days and times for him to call so I will be home to answer the phone, but with this horrible Lock Down, I'm sure he is going to call the first chance he gets and I fear I will miss his call!

TJ Angel have you ever thought about getting call forwarding from your phone company. its only like 3 or 4 dollars a month and whenever you leave hom you can forward your calls from your home phone to your cell phone. thats what i do cuz im always scared that im gonna miss jason call, so until i hear from him i will just forward my calls so i dont miss it. he told me that they cant talk on thep hone that much, so if i miss his call i will not hear from him for up to 2 weeks.

Yes they are off Lockdown as of 2 days ago. My Man just called me about 30 minutes ago and he said they are on a Modified Schedule, which means they can use the phones but can not return to their job assignments or other regular duties as of yet.

Hey all,
Sorry I didn't see this thread until just now...I haven't posted much these past few months. We have been at OF since 2000...my husband is there. Glad to have this thread. They are still on modified...my husband finally got to go back to work, and we finally got to talk on the phone again! YEA! Also, I'm sort of the "resident family visiting expert" here, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm always happy to help out my sisters and brothers in the fight. :)

Bridget...good news about Jason's date!

When they call from OF, what number shows on the caller ID?
What are the calling schedules? Do they cut the phones off at a certain time?

mamawen
04-06-2004, 03:21 PM
My caller ID always says, "uknown"
I have a friend whose says, "out of area"...so as far as I know, it never says, "folsom state prison" unless it's a business call...I had that once when the FV coordinator had to call me back at home.

As far as I know, night calls are on a schedule by building and tier. They had been going every 4 days before the recent LD, but now they are back to every 7-10 because they are only doing one tier at a time. Everything changes all the time because of LD's and such. That's one thing you can count on...it always changes! :)

Our calls are 15 minutes and yes, the cut you off...you get a warning at 2 and 1 minute.

Damn, only 15 minutes? At least in the county, we could talk for as long as we wanted, whenever we wanted... and the calls were cheap... lol

Well, I hope my man calls ASAP :)

Hi Dymond,

If he's still in reception he probably won't be able to call you (they don't usually have phones in there) until he mainlines. My phone says Unknown Caller too when my hubby calls. I usually just forward my house phone to my cell phone when I'm not home, cuz you know nobody likes to miss a call from their man! :)

Yea, it sucks big time. I have friends there who get calls more frequently, but I think thier men are not workers and can get to the phones during the day. But that's about it. When they are not on these stupid LD's, there's mini-yard...and there are phones there. So, when they are on normal program, he calls every Sunday.

Sherijimenz3,

My son has been at OF since November 2004. Regarding OF being a safe prison, it seems ok.. What prison is really safe.... but he has learned how to be as safe as he can. I haven't heard of any major issues happening there but lockdown do happen.

If you have any specific questions, please PM me and I will see if I can help.

Charme:)

Hello Ladies,

My husband has been at Old Folsom for about 2.5 years. We have a family visit scheduled for May. I usually drive, but I was thinking about flying out this time. Has anyone ever stayed at the LAKE NATOMA INN? It's on Gold Lake Road. I seen their website and it looks really nice and clean, but you never really know unless you've been there yourself, or know someone who has been there. Any information would be VERY helpful. :) Thanks....

My husband was at the camp at old folsom now back behind the wall due to being stupid and having tobacco he dosent even smoke. His councelor told me today he should be back at the camp in about 3 weeks. But we lost our family visit in may i dont know how to tell my kids daddys so dumb. Im so pissed and he might even get 30 days added thats the most . But he only has 3 pt against him so the councelor really dosent think he'll get any added time. Just sit behind the wall and learn a lesson. I hope. He's out in June how can anyone take that risk . Hell blame me and say I dont send any money.I pay rent the bills and take care of the kids and work 8 hrs a day then go back and work at nights 3 days a week. to make ends meet. Had to take today off to talk to councelor. This sucks and Im so pissed.

Hi there and welcome!! If you're husband got moved to the ranch, he's probably a level 1 or 2.. You're in LUCk that you're husband got moved to the ranch, because that means NO WAITING IN LINE for you.. Lucky YOU.. :) Visiting hours are on the weekends from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. You don't have to get there early because you could just walk right in when the doors are open.. Are you approved to visit yet? Don't forget to bring your ID, and you could bring 30 dollars, quarters and ones.. There's 3 change machine in the visting processing room and you could also buy picture docat if you want to take pix's.. Folsom isn't that BAD, and the CO's are pretty cool.. Friday visits are only for behind the wall, so you probably won't get friday visit, but it's still good that you don't have to wait in line.. Dress codes isn't that bad in Folsom, but no BLUE DENIM or GREEN.. Folsom isn't strict on the dress code, and make sure that your shoes have a back strap... But dress code isn't that bad.. If you need any more info feel free to PM me.. :) Take kare..

Hi there and welcome.. :) About the family visits in Old Folsom, you get them every 90 days and I'm not sure about the red card? So far, I have gone to 2 family visits and I have one coming up in July, and it's wonderful... Officer Kerrigan is cool and she's not strict about the stuff that you bring in.. Family visits are either Sunday 10 a.m.- Wedesday 9 a.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. -Sunday 9 a.m.... When my husband first got to Folsom, he just sent me a form and I filled it out.. We got approved for a visit 3 months after, so it was pretty quick and simple.. Have you filled out the family visits already?? Good Luck... Please pm me if you need more info on this.. Take care..
