Is there anywhere to find out (in one location or one click) which villages / towns / cities / counties have sex offender residency restrictions in Wisconsin. It seems that many little burgs have restrictions (at least 73 of them that I've heard about) but I've not found a comprehensive list of places with restrictions yet. My brother and his family will need to find housing soon (he will be released from Fox Lake in Feb. 2010 at the latest) and it would be so good if there is a place where he can go that doesn't have ordinances / fines / etc connected to them. Any ideas on where to look?

I don't have an answer for you, but here are some thoughts.

Generally whatever county he offended in is where he will be released to, he doesn't always have the luxury of choosing a new county or town.
So I would start with that county and then check those towns' rules and restrictions.

Thanks, SummerRae. We will continue the search. I've also contacted our State Senator to see whether legislation could be enacted which would direct cities / villages / townships / municipalities / counties to post all such sex offender residency restriction ordinances in one central location on the state's web site or at minimum on the county web sites. Keep the fingers crossed!
