Does anyone have any information on this unit. My baby got transferred to here from Connally. So far he says he likes the move. Only they didn't give him any advance notice he was moving??? Crazy how it happens. How far from Dallas is it??? etc.. etc... thanks in advance all.. And a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New year. I just got home from holidays. Missed the board for sure.

My husband is at the Allred Unit, he doesn't sem to have to many complaints other than the food of course.Since they got a new Warden there hasn't been many lock downs. Wichita Falls is about 150 miles from Dallas. If there is any other questions I can help you with feel free to PM me and Happy New Year!

My friend is on this unit -- he didn't receive any advance notice to being moved there, either. In factbeen transferred to this facility he hasn't had any major complaints other than the food and mail (but he seems to have constant comments on these 2 issues :().

I know someone in Allred Unit as well and I don't think it is worse than other places. I asked B once if what question he did NOT want me to ask him and he said: I would not want you to ask me what's for dinner. Hehe.

ha ha ha... well Marc says that the food there is better than at the Connally. So I don't know if this is a good thing! At least hes happy with that. Not that any unit is good at all.
Thanks folks

My baby is there....it's better than most units. They are on lockdown as of right now...The new Duty warden only allows special visits for one day on the weekend now too...instead of on sat and sunday....that sucks....BOO HOO!!

I guess it is impossible to say how long the lock down will last? They have been on lock down for almost a week now!

NO way.. really. Hmmm well I guess I will find out soon enough. I should get mail, well now i don't know when I will get mail. Dang. Everywhere Marco goes, theres a lock down. Hmmmm kinda makes me wonder. Naw, I know hes good, I Just know that these prisons are messed up. Always a lock down here and there isn't there?

B is in Ad. Seg and he told me that thier orders had been sent back, so he could not buy stamps, and since he's in Seg they are not allowed to send out mail indigent if they have money on their book. But in General Pop they are allowed to send out mail indigent and have it drawn off their book, so unless your hunny is in Ad. Seg you should receive mail. :) Maybe not as fast as you'd like, but still :)

Hes in Ad Seg... Damn it.
Just my luck. OH well.. wonder why the lock down now?

ABP
01-06-2004, 09:43 PM
Do they EVER need a real reason? B didn't even know until they got their orders back and was told they were restricted. So he didn't know why they were on lock down then. But he wrote that letter December 30, so he might know now. It sucks though....

I also believe that Ad. Seg and Gen. Pop is seperated. But your Marc and B might know each other or of each other.

I hope you find out something, Sara and that you can tell us that they will be off lock down SHORTLY. *Smile*

Sorry...I jus saw your post. Allred is the unit from hell as far as I am concerned. Very heavy gang activity, guards and warden could care less about inmates. White gangs are in seg while black gangs run things. Took me 9 months to get my son out of there and we paid for protection all the time. My son is now in Boyd unit and it is like heaven compared to Allred. Old warden was Treon who is an arrogant idiot. When you call and check on problems the staff lies to you, they lie to the Ombudsman people, etlc. It took a state representative to get my son moved. If your baby is a gang member he will probably do okay. Mine wasn't.

Well, Randy is very well Taken Care of....because everyone there loves him liek a son..I guess that could help. The black gangs do not run everything. Sorry that your son had such a bad experience there..but Randy says's it's Daycare compared to BEto 1 where in his first day there he saw a guy in the chow hall get his head cut off with a box cutter!

Is your guy in the general population or medium security? Perhaps your right...not all the black gangs are running things...we have the latino gangs running things too. They have all the white gangs in seg....what can I say. My son, who has NEVER had problems at any other unit, says Allred is a piece of crap. Glad yours is doing good and getting along with all the boys. Beto 1 is pretty bad from what I've heard. Also, when dealing with staff at Allred I got nothing but lies and runaround. Those I saw personally on visits were pretty good and for the most part tried to help and make the visits pleasant. Talked with plenty of TIFA people and Allred is known for the gang activity. I hope things continue to go good for your guy....I wouldn't wish the last 9 months we had on anyone.

I wonder if its all prisons. BUT don't gangs exist in most prisons? I wish that my man was loved 1/2 as well as yours was. What did he do to get that Sara. :D just curious...

I have also heard there is a lot of gang activity in Allred, but not only there of course...

Long story on him getting medium security....let's just say he wrote a letter to an girl he was dating and it was considered extortion. According to legal description it wasn't extortion but we didn't fight it. That is how he got in Allred to begin with. While in medium security he was housed with a high ranking Mandingo Warrior who extorted all his commissary, threatened to kill him...on and on. When he had enough he went to gang intelligence for help. They DID NOT investigate the accusation because one of the guards was in cahoots with the Mandingo......corruption to the hilt. As usual, since my son is a con....and believe a con is a con (but I love him) I checked into everything. They blew it...not us and they threw him right back into the same pod. It took two Ombudsman investigations and two state representatives to get the job done. He is now in Boyd where there is NO active gang activity. As a matter of fact, the warden has a group come in and talk to x gang members so they can get out and not re-enter the gangs. Boyd is like heaven...my son gets to attend AA ...something he couldn't do in Allred. The warden at Boyd really has things under control and the entire staff I have had contact with are great. He even has a questionnaire about how you are treated when you visit there. He is into the men acting like men, begin treated like decent people and getting their time done. He also doesn't put up with any crap so if they screw up he has them transferred. Most of the units has gang activity but some have gangs running the show and I personally think Allred is one of them. I don't mean to sound so negative and I truly want your man to be safe and do well........I just hate the whole prison system and the fact that rehabilitation in Texas is a huge joke. I think that overall our men don't get what they need to make it in society when they parole and, I don't think they get proper medical care...considering the taxes we pay. I just want my son home and pray that he does good when he gets out.....and I hope your guy does good too.

Well, Randy is involved in a group...only for protection...and he is not in Seg. His case was very high profiled and he is in there for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Everyone there is extremely nice to me and helpful when they find out who my man is. No prison is good...so let's stop acting like one is better than the other. I just know that my baby is taken care of.

I know that general population can send out indigent even they have money on their books and are on lock down. The only ones that can't are the inmates on Ad. Seg and the reason why we don't hear from our guys, niypiya. (Geez - I will NEVER remember that screen name - tee hee)

As for no prison being better than the other one. I have to disagree. There are some prisons that ARE better due to programs, school and other activities. I have friends in other States also and compared to most Texan prisons the prisons some of my friends are in seems MUCH BETTER. Prison is NOT fun - but it is not supposed to be fun either. It just isn't supposed to be so hard as many of them are either... at least that's my opinion. Some humanity - some dignity should follow the job description and prison policy. Mail for one thing - they should ALWAYS be allowed to send out mail! :argh :ham:

Welcome to PTO. The easiest way to get to know PTO is to browse around. The how to's will come as you go. If you browse up - up you will find the introduction forum. It is always nice to pop in there and say HI. There is a techincal forum if you need help with that and so on and so on. Oh - and also there are rules you should read. They are also up - up - up there on the site. Good luck and ask around if you have more questions, but maybe it is better to post a new thread :)

You can't actually correspond with someone in prison on this site. Inmates in Texas don't have access to the internet. But, this is a great site. You'll love it.
