View Full Version : Anamosa penn- I was there for 3 years
mike wise 01-04-2004, 05:31 PM for all of you wondering about the big castle, its not that bad. This is the preferred place to do alot of time by many inmates. it is known to be a warehouse. people needing to get into xtreatment usually try to get too clorinada for the tow program before there manitory is up. I was the first group to graduate from the new treatment program called rsat t/c or otherwise known as the green shirt program or snitch program. I was fortunate and was released on parole shortly after my manitory was up. was it the rsat program or the states inmate over popualtion and budget cuts? I dont know but i am out and very glad to be out of the control of a bunch of over paid babysitters who must have been picked on in high schcool. I still get goosebumbs when i think of all the crap i had to go through because of drugs. Once a year i drive by the castle in january just to give thanks to the lord for letting me out. feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions about anamosa, oakdale, or luster heights, ibeen there done it. **email address edited by administration per PTO policy**
JJsGB 01-04-2004, 11:25 PM My man's in Anamosa now. For the most part, he doesn't have any trouble. The CO's just like to give him S**T. The only trouble we really have is his mail being sent out. It didn't used to be a problem, but now, he might as well not even write me, b/c I don't get it anyways. I don't care for the CO's either. They just have stuff up their butts. Whatever. Thankfully, we only have about 3years left to go.
I guess what I really want to know, is what all can I do to make his time easier?
dkr55 01-04-2004, 11:35 PM welcome mike-wise glad you joined us.
lam422 01-05-2004, 01:22 PM hi mike!

Binky's Gal 01-08-2004, 02:23 AM Hi Mike~ my man is also In Anamosa. He was just recently told that he will be lucky to get to any classes before his outdate, which is sad. He said the same thing you did, about Annie being a warehouse (he called it a storage house).
Glad you made it out, and nice to know we have someone here for us thats been there done that. As your see the admin has deleted your email addy, but if you could pm me it, I would be grateful. I would keep it for future questions that may arise.
Btw-I am Heather, nice to meet you :)
Good Luck with everything, and post lots!!
MLANGCASI 05-01-2004, 05:24 PM Hi Mike my dad was just transfered from Amamosa to Fort Madison a couple days ago. Can you tell me what process they have there as far as transfers? Do they have to get permission from anyone or can they just send you out anytime they feel like it ? Also I no Fort Madison isn't all that great.I also have my dads bro in Anamosa.
MLANGCASI 05-01-2004, 05:28 PM What program were you in ? Why is it called that?? Im not to familiar w/Iowa prison system as far as programs they offer.
hubby anamosa 07-04-2004, 12:04 AM My husband is currently serving time at Anamosa. He is starting the treatment on the 11th of July. He was saying it was a 9 month treatment program but that some people have completed it in 6 month. Do many do the full 9 months
Binky's Gal 07-04-2004, 04:28 AM Hi Hubby~ What treatment program r u talking about? I may beable to answer you if I know more specifics.
Hugs~Heather
JJsGB 07-04-2004, 08:25 PM Hi Hubby. My man is also in Anamosa. I think you're talking about the program downstairs which helps them to get released earlier or for parole. Is that right?
Let me know and if I don't have the answer I can definitely get it.
hubby anamosa 07-05-2004, 03:46 PM My husband is starting the TC program (green shirt). He was told when he got there he would only have to do 7 weeks of relapse. Then the parole board wrote and said he would have to do treatment. So that is what he is doing. His counselor told him it would be a 9 month program, however some of the guys told him they have seen people out in 6 months. I was just wondering if any of you had heard the same.
Binky's Gal 07-07-2004, 01:55 AM Hubby~ I talk to Ricky sometime today, I'll see if he knows anything. Ill let ya know. So how long is he down for? Is he done when the program is complete? If thats the case I sure hope its a 6 mo program ;)
Hugs~Heather
Binky's Gal 07-09-2004, 12:40 PM Hi Hubby~ I talked to Ricky, and this is what he said. It is a 9 month program, but when I asked if he could complete it sooner, he also said yes. Apparently they all stay together, dont associate with any of the other inmates, dont even talk to anyone outside their group. He said its all the programs wrapped into one, excluding bep. You have to be eligiable for the program, but he didnt know what the requirements were. And I then asked once this program is completed do they get released, and he said Yes, they are sapose to.
So sounds good for you Hubby  keep us posted on how it all works, it might help some future newbies ;)
Hugs~Heather
hubby anamosa 07-09-2004, 06:55 PM Thanks Heather -
My husband is in for a revocation, and the parole board requested that he take part in the treatment program at anamosa. He has been told by his counselor that he only has to do that(and it has to be the one at anamosa- wont let him transfer to a closer facility) and depending on if he has a job on the outside when he gets close to being done with treatment that he will get a straight parole, otherwise it will be work release and back to the half way house (ick - but its better than anamosa).
JJsGB 07-09-2004, 10:14 PM The program you're talking about is downstairs in the basement. Basically, the inmates in the program have to snitch on one another to get ahead. I call it snitchville. I talked to my honey about this too and we've actually talked about this program quite a bit. He said that they have groups and stuff and they tell on each other and then they can get released after so long.
