This may be a little off the focus of this group's focus but it may be helpful to those who are contemplating marriage, those engaged and yes, even those who are already married.
The Am. Correctional Association publishes a manual called, "Considering Marriage: A Premarital Workbook for Couples Separated by Incarceration", by Mary K. Friskics-Warren. When I purchased copies, it was about $12.00/copy. You can purchase by getting info. from the ACA website or by calling them at 1-800-825-BOOK. At one time you could order this book from Amazon but I'm not sure that is still an available option.
I bought one for myself and one for my then-partner [who was in prison]. We selected various assignments from the book and worked on them at the same time--then we shared our work with eachother, in writing and again on visits. We found many aspects of the book very helpful. I know other women who have also used this book and found it very useful. Some of the assignments ask you to address some difficult, but I think, crucial aspects of one's relationship. It made me think, sometimes worry, sometimes laugh, sometimes soul-searching. Most of all, it helped me to become more honest with myself about my relationship--and in turn, be more forthright in sharing more openly and directly with my then-partner.
