ALRIGHT GUYS AND GALS!!!!
i know we all have big voices...well i know i do..but anyways..after talking with a great girl and a whole bunch of other fellow new yorkers at a certain correctional facility (while seeing our boyfriends)..a conversation was brought up of how the officers have treated us. now i know-i think about this all the time because i feel very uncomfortable at times..being perfectly "in the right" and feeling like i, too, am an inmate only because i want to see the man that i adore. in the last 17 months i have been thru about 6 different facilities with my fiance and all have been different..but i know of atleast 4 that have had horrible officers treat me like s***! i get sick and tired of this and i would like to take this time to let ya know..that this girl and i will be talking more and i want to know who is willing to stand up for their beliefs and take this all the way to albany!!!!! getting treated like animals, and waiting forever to get processed into a visiting room to see our boyfriends as long as possible, being harassed..etc....it all needs to stop and i know u guys here will help us out! if we can all get together and take this seriously..we can stand up for our men and ourselves!!!!!!!! :fb:

I agree with what you are saying however, it is pointless. I've opened my mouth before, written many letters to Albany, Congressan, Assemblymen, attorneys, etc... Albany just forwards the letters back to the prison's Superintendant. That's the last thing you want, because in turn they will make it miserable for your loved one. I know this first hand, after my complaints they set hubby up, beat him and transferred him over 8 hours away from me. It isn't worth it, it really isn't. All you can do is kill them with kindness as sad as it may say.

I wish you luck on finding a group that is strong enough to stay with you on this fight. The type of response you get in regards to your complaint will not only depend on what you're complaing about but also to who. Example, I had an issue with a male c.o. making comments about my breats and legs, not to me directly but to his peers when i was standing near by just so I could hear it.The funny thing about this was that he was the frisk room officer and "allegedly" bisexual, so I was never really sure if wanted me or my husband. LOL. Anyway, I wrote letters to everyone in the proper chain of command AS WELL AS THE UNION so it looked like I was being fair).I didn't get any action from anyone, which I knew I wouldn't, then I wrote to the Inspector Generals Ofiice.IG came in and the end result was that they removed him from that post. I have another issue now involving a female c.o. that IG is investigating, they moved her to another facility already and the investigation is not even complete. So even though there is strenght in numbers, if you're serious about the battle and the complaint is not frivolous, then don't wait for support because you'll find that alot of families are afraid to speak due to possible retaliation.

Good Luck
