View Full Version : CaseWorker Issues - Who Can I Contact?
Ms.Magnolia 04-13-2009, 02:29 AM I need some information please . As many of you know my husband has been at CMCF since Jan. 8th , 2009. That is now 3 months. How long does it take for him to be assigned a caseworker ? He still does not have one . And what exactly does the caseworker do? No one will tell him anything so it looks like this is another issue I am going to have to deal with. So who do I contact this time ? Thanks very much for any suggestions
Sondra4Thalia 04-17-2009, 12:00 PM I've heard that the men's unit has been short on case workers and know that some have not seen their case manager in months. My understanding is they are supposed to meet with them once a month but that doesn't happen! I would probably write or call a supervisor, the Superintendent, or even the Commissioner if necessary.
msearp99 04-17-2009, 02:38 PM Suggestion again to email EPPS, and BINGHAM,
CEPPS@mdoc.state.ms.us
MBingham@mdoc.state.ms.us
( Bingham has been out of office this week, not sure who will reply .)
Mr. Epps phone # is : 601-359-5621
Suggestion also to ask these leaders handle this matter themselves and not delegate it out to someone who will fail to follow thru.
Seems to be happening more and more.
Good luck. I'm sorry you have to deal with this failure in the MDOC system.
Jonathan 04-19-2009, 08:24 PM If he is in the R&C he won't get a case worker untill he is transferred. Depending on custody level and where he is to go that could be hold up IF he is in R&C
Ms.Magnolia 04-20-2009, 04:11 AM It is not my understanding that he is R & C .He has been moved about 6 to 8 weeks ago to another bldg. in zone C . It is also my understanding that he is assigned there to CMCF , per Classification . He was re-evaluated to B Classification. This was told to myself and his Mother.
Also he told me there was a shortage at CMCF and no one was seeing a case worker.
Ms.Magnolia 04-20-2009, 09:46 PM I appreciate the responses and suggestions to each one of you that responded to my post. There is so much to learn on the who , what , when , and where. And what to do and not to do . I'm so grateful to have found PTO !!
:thnx:

My husband has been there a year and even when you do get a case worker it is impossible to catch her in her office. When you call her she does not call back. Case workers are a joke in my experience. I realize the have hundreds of inmates to do paperwork on but ignoring the family is not the answer either. I believe a lot of the workers at CMCF try to punish the family for what the inmate did. The also have control issues and a whole lot of what I call reverse prejidious. Only half the CO's do their job. The good ones must do work for the lazy ones that are just there to draw a check. This is hard on everyone. If more family members would put concerns in writing and sent to Epps office something might get done. Don't wait on someone else to write. Do your part. Be part of the answer not part of the problem. Thanks
Anybody got Warden Lee's emal address? Or Ladner? Or Epps? Please send it to me.
Ms.Magnolia 07-08-2009, 04:44 AM My husband was moved from CMCF unexpectedly on June 17th. He was moved to DCF in Greenwood. He had an exceptional caseworker within 2 days !
Hope you get your issues resolved at CMCF . Good luck !

callback 07-31-2009, 03:10 AM CMCF is a landing point for lot of people who are entering the system or who are in transition for some reason. These people are not assigned a regular case manager because they are in transition. This would include every male except for those assigned to 720 and to G building (possibly F too, I'm not sure on that.) I would suggest that you ask the switchboard to connect you to the Director of Offender Services and ask your question there.
