Hi SusieQ, what kind of a hardship? Is the prison to far for you to travel?
Mrs. H 09-05-2002, 04:59 AM From what I have heard, they need to come straight from the doctor and get a copy cause the my honey's counselor wanted it sent directly from the doctor, so I had that done and then kept a copy and also sent my honey a copy. When they go for classification once a yr they will review it. Usually, they don't bother before that. It really depends on the counselor and the facility. They usually say that due to the budget they won't transfer people if that is what it is about. I hope I helped some but don't lose faith and hope! I had two doctor's send in for me and it wasn't granted ... YET, but we decided it was best to stay put, cause we will be getting family visits in a month or so and the other facility has fam visits more sparsly dated than the one he is presently at. When I found that out, I said "baby, nevermind, I WILL DRIVE!"

KConnor56 09-05-2002, 08:46 AM Susie Q (I love that S/N), There is no format per-se for hardship letters. If you want to e-mail me I can help you through the process of writing one. Transfers can happen at any time. Housing, work assignments, etc, are gone over every 6months by CDC, but the prisoner is usually only involved in his annual hearing. Points can be lowered every 6months so thst why it's done every 6months, but it's usually done without the prisoner being there. They usually only send the prisoner a piece of paper letting im know that this has happened, & informing him of any changes. The biggest aspect to any transfer is what level he is & where is the closest prison at that level. There really isn't much that's close to So Cal. but Ironwood is closer than New Folsom. So if your interested just drop me a line, & I'll walk you through it. You have about a 60-75% chance of sucess, which goes up over time. CDC does give them out pretty frequently. --------Ken
SUSIEQ 09-15-2002, 01:24 PM ALRIGHT KEN. REGARDLESS OF THE POSSIBILITIES I WANT TO GO THROUGH WITH THEM HARDSHIP LETTERS FOR HIS PARENTS! WE DO HAVE A LETTER FOR EACH OF THE PARENTS FROM SOME TIME LAST YEAR. BUT TO BE HONEST WITH YOU I DON'T THINK THEY WERE APPROPRIATELY WRITTEN. BASICALLY IT STATED AND BRIEFLY ABOUT THEIR CONDITIONS BUT NOTHING WAS MENTIONED ABOUT WHAT IT IS THAT THEY WANT TO BE DONE NOR DID THE DOCTOR EXPLAINED THE SITUATION THOROUGHLY TO WHY THYE'RE REQUESTING A TRANSFER FOR THEIR SON. IN MY OPINION. I FEEL THAT IF HE IS A LIFER AND HE HAS NOT HAD ANY WRIT UPS IN THE LAST 7 YEARS, I FEEL IT WOULD ONLY BE RIGHT, FOR HE HAS A LIFE TO SERVE HIS TIME AND HIS PARENTS DON'T. AND IT'S ONLY THEM TWO OLD FOLKS AND TRY VISITING THEIR SON. IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AND A LONG DRIVE. AND IF THEY QUESTION THAT OF INMATES HAVING OR NOT FAMILY SUPPORT FROM THE OUTS? WELL THE SYSTEM SURE DOES MAKE IT HARD ON SOME PEOPLE TO DO SO!!! BUT I ALREADY KNOW THEY DON'T CARE AND FEEL NO PETTY. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY KEN! AS FOR ME YEAH I DO TRY VISITING HIM ONCE A MONTH AND IT IS A 12 HOUR DRIVE NON CONTACT VISIT. BUT I HAVE NO REGRETS AND I PLAN ON CONTINUING TO DO SO. HE DEFENITELY DOES INDEED, HAVE MY SUPPORT. SURE WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE HIM CLOSER THOUGH. SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? SHOULD I WAIT AND SEE IN APRIL OF NEXT YEAR SEE IF THEY CUT HIM LOSE TO A YARD WITH THAT INACTIVE STATUS. WHICH BY NOW HE SHOULD BE ELIGIBLE. OR GO AHEAD AND SEND THEM LETTERS ANYWAYS. HE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEM SENT BY THIS MONTH BEACAUSE GIU I THINK WILL BE CHECKING ON HIM SOON NEXT MONTH I'M ALMOST SURE. PLEASE I WANT YOUR FEEDBACK ON THIS ISSUE. THANKS SUSIEQ
