hey, someone asked me today if second degree murder is the same as manslaughter? I'm not sure about this, because I don't really know the standards for certain conviction terms

No they are not the same. Man slaughter is a lesser charge is usually when it was not done with intent but someone died do to there action. The second degree murder is murder with intent but no pre medatation to it. They use it when they feel like they can't get a murder 1 conviction. You can ckeck them out in the law libaray.

to get convicted for first degree murder, you always have to have the murder planned on beforehand? or am I wrong.
