I don't know about you ladies, but my man is so OPTIMISTIC sometimes that I wonder what's wrong with me! Aren't I suppossed to be the one encouraging him? He uplifts me daily in his calls and letters, ALWAYS encouraging me to stay focused, stay in prayer, and stay strong. He reassures me that he WILL be out and will make me forget about the yeras that he has been away as if they never happened. Yeah, I'd like to see THAT!

Maybe it's the daily hum-drum of life that makes me so jaded. Maybe it's because I heard those same promises BEFORE he got locked up and I don't know if I really believe it. Or maybe I'm afraid his parole may be denied or something else sinister will pop up and continue to keep us apart. I have had so many disappointments , as has everyone else at some point.

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy, but when he is so up beat and SURE that everything will work out, I all of the sudden become paranoid. Help!:confused:

Divita, I am kinda confused by your post. Only the old time federal prisoners have parole. I dont think your man was sentenced under the old rules, but I could be wrong. Have you spoken to Zelda? Her husband is a parole elegiable federal prisoner. She knows most there is to know about federal parole.

I agree with most of what you said. I am pessimistic also. My husband is going thru an appeal in which me might give back time, yet I still remain so pessimistic over it, even when he is so optomistic. I feel real guilty.

flygirlaa2, he was sentenced in washington, dc back in 1990. Since then, all District of Columbia prisoners are now housed in the Federal system. I don't believe he falls under their sentencing guidelines. From what I understand, he is due for a parole hearing in 2009.

I definately feel ya here. We are looking at maybe giving some time back but I have to say sometimes I think he is more sure of it than I am. I hope for the best but I always expect the worst. I do a pretty good job of not letting him know that I am worried about it though. Hang in there. You will have these days.

What is "giving time back" mean?

Basically when they are sentenced they get so many months. ex. 209 months. When there is an appeal pending they can stand to have some of the time taken off provided they win the appeal. The time taken off the original months given is called "giving time back" Basically, just a sentence reduction....Which really only happens for the Feds when they win an appeal or get some good time.

Just got a 10 page letter, you know, front and back, and had the biggest smile on my face. Seems like his positive outlook IS rubbing off on me! I love him more EACH day. Is that possible? It's a blessing to know that you all in the 10+ club "feel" me. Thanks for listening!
