Judge leaps to protect woman in Broward County court

A defendant in Broward County court ended up in jail after he lunged at the woman who spoke out against him. A judge was among those who jumped to protect the woman.

The hearing in Courtroom 5810 looked like any other. The defendant, with his lawyer, stood to one side. His ex-girlfriend, also with a lawyer, stood to the other side. But the scene quickly descended into chaos when Broward County Judge Ian Richards told the defendant, John Charles Reasee, 29, of Lauderhill that he would go to jail for violating a restraining order.

Reasee snapped. Before the bailiff could handcuff him, Reasee darted around behind his lawyer and attacked Nicole Word, his former girlfriend and the mother of his daughter....

Ah, the virtues of self-restraint!

Jeez, that's a nice clear-cut case.

Too funny. I saw that when it first happened. You can only imagine what that poor girl went through before her day in court. Bless her heart.

That reminds me of the time I had an appointment with our local DV resource people about housing. My son's father knew I had an appointment but did not know it was at a DV place. He insisted that he go, I told him he could not because it was a place only for women. He said I was meeting another man at my appointment to run off away from him. He grew increasingly adgitated and insisted on going with me. He followed me right up in to the office (where there are no men allowed with out prior authorization) There was a cop in the office on a different matter. I went into my appointment and told the housing lady that he had basically just committed DV and chased me right up into there office. :O) They arrested him right there... I cant believe the things we have been through. What is wrong with these guys that they could act sooo stupid?!?
