He is not permitted internet access and asked me to do some research for him. There's very little available on the BOP site, unless you just want the phone number and visiting regulations.

Anyone who can provide some insight on what to expect - it would be sincerely appreciated. He's in his late 50's and will have SO status -teenage pics on computer, caught in Fed sting.

Im not sure what your really wanting to know, but he shouldnt let anyone know hes in for child porn! The guys there dont take to lightly to that.

I know he can keep the issue quiet, but what about the staff? He called today to find out about details on SS, but really didn't gain any insight. When his wife drops him off, does she just leave right then? Is it correct that he should not bring any funds, but use Western Union to deposit them? Is the Low facility dormitory style?

the staff doens't exactly advertise what each person is in there for...and not sure how much knowledge they have of it...anyways yea self surrendering is kinda brutal, they just tell you to say good bye and then you have to leave. He can bring a money order, but its faster just to drop money in the western union, and he'll ahve it as soon as he has access to commisary....any specific q's you want answered just let us know and we'll do what we can for ya :-D

Ok, now for your questions. He or his wife should stop on the way to the prison, and wire himself money, thru western union. Really, he can do it before then, or she can do it after she leaves the prison, it doesnt matter.
Im not totally sure on how the SS works, we went lucky enough to have that option. But from what Ive heard she can walk with him into the front lobby of the prison. Then the guard, will then tell her its time to leave.
My husband is at the medium so Im not sure about the sleeping arangments, but I do believe it is dorm style.
