Many of our members use Rosies graphics. You can send white envelopes and paper. Rosie is familiar with TDCJ polices ragarding stationary supplies, she'll also follow up with any problems you may have. You cannot send them quarterly care packages. Books, magazines or newspapers have to be sent from the publisher or book store. On Visitation he has to complete his visitation list. On special visits (4 hours on Sat. and 4 hours on Sun.) he has to put in a request for via I-60, you then follow up the Monday and Friday prior to your visit, to ensure they are approved. Your address on your photo ID need to match what he puts on his visitation list. The phones in Gurney are scheduled to be installed in May. The link for phone info is below. the second link is pertaining to mail/visitation and the third is Rosie's Graphics. Hope this helps and God bless as always.

You aren't allowed to send packages like they do in some other states. He can buy things from commissary if he has money on his books. You van send envelopes and paper as stated above. You should be able to have special 4 hour visits since you live so far away. Some units allow 4 hours on Sat. and Sun. and you will need to call the unit to find out what is allowed. The info on the visitors list he made out must match your state ID or you won't be allowed to visit. There is a lot of info about the dress code etc. on this site. I know you probably have more questions so just ask and someone will try you help you.

Hi, I'm new to this and don't know what to expect. Can anyone give me general info on how long processing takes, when visitation can begin, how /when mail is delivered, what to expect, etc? Any info will be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you...

my husband has been on the gurney unit since April 16th I get to see him for the first time this weekend. I dont think you can send stuff down there. He can be there two week or up to two years.
