If you were in charge of prison and could change one rule within reason what would it be???

if i was a prison warden for a day...id let each inmate have WHATEVER they wanted for breakfast, lunch & dinner...and none of this teenie weenie portion sizes...if i cant survive on next to nothing..neither can they ;)

if i were a warden, i aint even gonna front, I would let inmate get thier grove on in the bathroom, for 5 minutes!!!

I WOULD LET THEM GET $20.00 OF STUFF FROM THE COMMISSARY AS SOME PEOPLE IN THERE DON'T GET MONEY FROM HOME.

If I could be warden for a day....well I guess since I wouldn't have the authority to send everyone home I would just let people have weekend passes.

I would let them where whatever they wanted instead of those ugly a** sh*t they wear.

I'd get rid of the SHU. The long term effects it can have on those who are kept in there for years can be very devastating. I don't think it is very humane.

If I were warden for a day, I'd put into place a concrete, unchangeable (even after I was gone) rule that any CO not keeping his/her own personal feelings and prejudices OUT of his/her treatment of prisoners would be immediately fired and would not get a positive recommendation for any further CO jobs anywhere else. Ever. CO's are there to do their jobs in a professional manner, keeping the security of the facility, but they are NOT there to let their own personal feelings about the inmate's crime or his demeanor or his personal habits or anything else about him color their treatment of him or her. Now, I realize that's a hard requirement to live up to, but if the majority of CO's can do it, then they all should be able to. If they can't, they don't belong in the profession.

If I was a Warden in Texas I would let the inmates have more then one measley 5 min. call every 90 days. I would allow trailer visits to the married couples, and if you had been living as common law husband and wife and had proof you would also have trailer visits...

And mostly I would put a stop to female CO's working in Men's prisons and Male CO's working in Female prisons. :D

Would make it MANDATORY all couples get conjugal visits AT LEAST annually no matter your sentence,etc :D

I would allow contact visits for children of inmates and conjugals for the married couples!!! :) and yes, reduce the damn phone costs!

And then I'd implement Cell Dogs for everyone. I love that program and think things like that are what prisons need.

If I were Warden for the Day I would get some DECENT FOOD in there for our loved ones. Maybe have guest chefs like Emeril Legasse, Sam Choy (Hawaii's favorite Big Guy) and others. And not only that, but let the guys eat AS MUCH AS THEY WANT!!! From soup to dessert, let them EAT!!! With the food as crappy as it is in most prisons, no wonder our guys look pretty anorexic!

Then I would put in an exercise activity center, where they could work off them calories: weight room, aearobics classes (yeah, can you see a bunch of guys doing Tae Bo together?), sauna, Olympic size swimming pool. The American Medical Association says that exercise at least 3-4 times a week for a minimum of 20 minutes a day is essential to good health, right?

Conjugal visits for partners are a MUST. And I would be ensconsed with my loved one in solitary confinement with a "Do Not Disturb" sign. Yeah, I know for real wardens aren't supposed to do that with one of the population, but HEY this is MY fantasy!

if I were Warden for a day I would reverse the rolls of the CO's and inmate. Co's in the cells inmates treating them the way they get treted

if i could be warden for a day oh the things i would change,i would put play grounds in for kids so thier parent could take them to play.
there would be more visiting days per inmate as they had more good behavior days.
there would be rewards for good days from free food to going home early.
each inmate would get $ 20 a month for personal needs and food.
1 day a month would be free phone call day for anyone who has say 130 days of good time in.
i would start the fresh day fresh start program so time in wouldn't be so long.
and i would have in coming calls to inmates say from 8 am to 5 pm ,this well be something great and i would make it where doc # would be used when calling in so you wouldn't have to wait for the prisoner to come to the phone !

Warden for a day= free cell phones for everyone and a day each month for each inmate to go out and spend with his/her family :)
