i am trying to find out if and what can be sent to an inmate on death row at polunsky in the way of paper, envelopes and stamps. i been writing to a fellow who has a fiance but he has no way to keep writing and i thought i would fix him some stationary but was wondering if they would prohibit it. he is in the hole there and very depressed sent me a goodbye letter cause he cant afford the paper ect. i want to lift his spirits with stationary of a couple theme so he can at least write to his lady.i would appreciate any information anyone can give. thanks!

Darlene,

I don't know if it matters or not that he is in the hole, that might make a difference, but I am not sure on that. As far as what d/r inmates can generally receive at Polunsky, I know for sure they can receive notebook paper, notebooks WITHOUT the spiral (it has to be the "neatbook" ones), envelopes, typing paper, and stationary (as long as it is the full-size sheets not the little sheets, I heard for some reason they don't allow the little sheets). Oh, but no stamps, they have to buy those off commissary or I believe indigent services or whatever it is called, can give him some stamps if he is absolutely destitute. I hope that helps!

Darlene, I don't know how many boxes of envelopes they can get at once...but I'm sorry, I forgot to mention...the paper, stationary, envelopes all of it, have to be sent DIRECTLY from a well-known store or website. For example, Office Max, Staples, Wal-Mart, etc either from the store itself or the website. They don't allow things just sent in, not on TX death row anyway. I hope that helps!

Lou, yah I think so...that's what someone said on another post. I know Wal-Mart.com is what they said, not sure about in-store or not. You might want to double check on that.

My pal is on polunsky unit..row, and I got him to send me a few inmate account forms.. believe me it wasn't easy convincing him to do this ..he didn't want my money..
This way he can buy what he needs at the inmate store..whatever it is called....First time I wrote I sent him stamps.. ekk..
He got a write up..I have a copy of it.. .he thought it was funny.. its kind of kewl that he sent it to me..don't think they gave him too much grief over it, but I am sure he wouldn't tell me if they did...
