She suffers from depression and has been on meds while she was in our co. jail.I am kind of up in the air waiting to hear something from her. Thanks for your support! I am new to all of this so bear with me please.
Lysbeth 12-29-2003, 02:17 AM Hi,
Since you had some specific visitation questions for an Iowa prison, I have moved this thread to the Iowa forum on PTO so your post will have the opportunity to get more specific responses and the best answers to your questions, and won’t get lost in the busy Visitation forum... I’ve found they often get more and better answers there, AND the information will be here to help others in the future, too. :)
You also might want to thumb thru the Iowa forum to see if some of your questions have already been answered in the past... the direct link to the forum is here:

Hope you find the info you're looking for and good luck! :)

Binky's Gal 12-29-2003, 02:23 AM Hi miracle852  Welcome to pto! Yes they can call from there, but they have to have money on their account to do so.
I have posted the rules for Reception offenders for Oakdale in the Iowa forum. Hope this helps ya. Ive been through the Oakdale bit, so if I can help ya just let me know. ;)
miracle852 12-29-2003, 10:28 PM HI Heather, I hope I am doing this right. Not sure about all this posting and replying but I will learn. So here it goes hope you get this. Thank you for answering me back on this. I really appreciate it!!!!!! I found her. She is up there!'I even spoke to her counslor and he said she is doing ok. Busy with all the testing and things. I can't wait to hear from her. QUESTON:
We sent a money order up to her but did it need to be sent with one of those forms about the pre-paid phone accounts? I want to make sure we are doing the right thing???? They just said on the phone to sent it to the warden with her name on it. Will this just go into her books? Then she can use it for whatever or phone. Sorry, I know I am asking alot of questions....:( What days can they order their stuff there? Hey, really thanks, it means a lot to me. Have a great new year! Bless you, Patty
Are there any other links I can go to to get information on Oakdale?
Binky's Gal 12-29-2003, 11:16 PM Hi again Patty~
Ok, first off if you sent money that will go on her regular account (this will be use for commisary or store items) out of that money she can designate money to be put on her phone account (she can put up to 49.00 on her phone account out of that, anything above 50 needs her councelor's approval) You are best to send a seperate MO directly to her phone account. You can find that form on the Iowa doc site- print it. fill it out and follow instructions on it.
Here is Oakdales rules in case you didnt see this:
http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31218
Here is a copy of the form that needs to be sent along with a MO for phone accounts:
http://www.doc.state.ia.us/Forms/PrePaidPhoneService.PDF
(you may need adobe reader to open this) I print out a bunch to have on hand, you will always send her phone money here.
As far as what day can they order stuff there, im not sure how they decide the days, but I do know they go to commisary 1 Time weekly. And as far as any other links, no I have not found any, the only info that I have found is on the Iowa Doc site, which isn't much. I hope you get to talk to your Daughter soon!
Keep us posted, and if ya have anymore questions, feel free to ask away, I'll do my best to answer.
Good Luck~ Heather
josey 04-09-2004, 12:44 PM Hello, Yes I have been to oakdale before. It is a process. I am not sure how long your daughter will be there. It depends on where she will be going after there, I was there waiting to go to a halfway house and it took 4 months but this was in 1999. I was there again in 2002 to wait to go to mitchellville and it took a little over a month. so it depends on where she is to go from there. As far as her being depressed the doctor's at oakdalr should be able to help her with that. It is a scary place to be if she has never been there before but as long as she keeps to herself and goes by the rules she will be ok. I hope I hear from you to see how she is doing. If there is anything I can answer please ask and I will do my best to answer you. I wish you and your daughter the best.I just had a daughter transfered up there last Friday. CAn anyone tell me what happens up there and can they make calls from there? does anyone have the "rules" or any information they can share with me about that place? I am not sure how long she will be there either. She is pretty fraigel right now. NOT EVEN A PHONE CALL(i'm sure not @ his doing)I'm wondering too if anyone has any info.for me.He's in Oakdale also.........................Thanx 4-support

So...I hope this gets out to someone.I have questions and i;ll figure it all out eventually.Thanx for your patience. C.C.
"Cotton Candy" 04-22-2004, 03:36 PM Where do i go to see if any of my questions are answered?
Binky's Gal 04-24-2004, 03:00 AM Hi Cotten Candy  Cute name BTW :)
I am the one who initially posted Oakdales rules. What exactly are your questions? You say he hasnt been to court but that he went to oakdale for evaluation, seems strange. Um, the no phone call yet, I know they have to wait abit, and does he have money on his account? Everything in Iowa has to be prepaid in order to call. Let me know what ya need, I will do my best to try and help and if I dont know the answer, I can sure help ya find out what ya need to know.
Good Luck~Heather
And btw-Welcome to pto!!
cookie69 07-27-2005, 11:54 AM I have never gone to visit my x in salinas I miss him and after 4 years im still in love with him
tmhill 10-21-2005, 03:24 PM My son just went to Oakdale and I am learning as I go also. I just saw that you said they can have up to $49 on the phone account. I just sent $50 today is that going to be a problem? Thanks, Tina
poolcutie 10-21-2005, 08:39 PM I've sent $100 to his phone account they put it all on there, so I'm not sure there is a limit.
Binky's Gal 10-21-2005, 11:47 PM There is no limit to how much money you can put on the phone account. However, the minimum you can send is 20 bucks.
Hope this helps ;)
Hugs~Heather
