Does anyone out there have someone at the Morgantown FCI camp (minimum security)? I haven't had much luck on the federal forum so I thought I'd try here as well. Thanks!

Nanu54 09-23-2004, 05:28 AM Hi. I haven't been there myself (yet), but am due to visit with my brother who is there very shortly. I know from calling that facility that you can visit on Friday late afternoons (5pm to 9pm), and all day on Saturday and Sundays. My brother said although it's still prison, it's not a terrible place. I know he and some other guys have a pet squirrel that they feed and are outside quite a lot when they are able. I will tell you more after our visit! Please do the same if you get there before I do! Hang in there! Welcome to PTO! http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=186 CP1023 08-27-2005, 02:48 PM I am also very interested in learning more about Morgantown. I know that Unicor is employment program that they have; however I would like to know if that is all that they have. Also how would an inmate go about going to school. Do they have college educational programs, or are they allowed to do correspondence courses? Also is this a prison or a camp. I see several people are saying both. Please give info. Also how does the 85% rule work with someone sentenced in 2005, and if they are still sitting waiting to be moved to a federal place. From a state institution. He is a fed inmate but has been waiting to be moved for like 18 months now. He just got moved to another regional jail and hopefully will get to Morgantown finally on their next move. But should you have feedback please send a response. Thanks. sandrastrng 09-01-2006, 06:59 PM My son Edward, was sentenced today to Morgantown. He is in Youngstown, Ohio right now. He had told me there was schooling available for college level in Morgantown. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Thanks Sandrastrng MrsMc44129 09-01-2006, 07:35 PM ok well here is everything, from the letters i recieve the place is very nice it hads a lot of workout equipment for the men to use, there is an education room and a library also there is a movie theater my boyfriend has not been there yet however he says the other guys say that it is nice, my bf was dropped of by me on sunday and he called on monday morning he was allowed to make one call from his counselors office and he called my cell #, he was able to start making calls again on thursday evening i believe, he regularly calls my cell or house phone bother numbers are approved, it took about a week and a half before i got approved for visitation, he is doing well he says that the living quarters is set up like dormitory the showers and stalls are individual with curtains he is allowed to roam the outside living quarters at his own free will there are not many security guards there its pretty laid back, also send your husband with some money because everything must be purchased i only sent my bf with 150.00 and i had to sen more the following week, they have to purchase phone minutes and they are only allowed 300 minutes a month and they have phone access from 6am - 11pm also they can only talk for 15 minutes and then they have to wait 30 minutes to call back, i am not sure about toys for the baby i have not visited yet but when i do i will check, from what i have seen when i dropped him off and what he told me it was pretty laid back, before he went in he did a lot of research and was told that this was the best place for him to spend the next 5 years of his life, the place does not look like a prison at all there are no fences and no barb wires it really lookes like a camp ground well i think that is everything anything else get back to me and good luck MrsMc44129 09-01-2006, 07:39 PM if u have any other questions pm me because i don't check the forums often sandrastrng 09-01-2006, 08:14 PM :) Thank you for the information you have given me on Morgantown. I only pray that they have good or satisfactory health care as my son has had one heart attack already and dr said his heart is damaged beyond repair and could have another one very easily. Its scary to know that but he was getting good care at Youngstown. I pray that the same will be so at Morgantown too. If you have info on the type of health care they have at Morgantown, it would be a big relief to me. Sandy Ohio sandrastrng 09-09-2006, 10:11 AM How long after their sentenced from one facility, does it take to be transferred to Morgantown facility? sandrastrng ohio noname10 09-09-2006, 09:22 PM How long aftertheir sentenced from one facility, does it take to be transferred to Morgantown facility? sandrastrng ohio That is hard to say since the Marshals dont move at anything past a snail pace when it comes to starting the transfer procedure. I know of cases where it took days and some where it took a month or longer. The best thing to do is check the locator on a daily basis and see what the status is for the day. Sorry I cant give you better news. I see you are recent member so let me say Welcome and come back often, the unknown is the worse part of the federal experience. The people here are wonderful about support and information, take advantage. hekk 09-13-2006, 03:16 PM my sentence date is oct.3rd. i have requested morgantown i've got 37months will they send me there Dag071 09-19-2006, 10:12 PM Please see my post in the thread titiled FCI morgantown (same forum) I will be happy to answer all questions regarding my stay at Morgantown, Thanks.071 BabyBooWV 10-13-2006, 11:46 AM My man was sittingin the county jail for about 4 months after he was sentenced, so you never do know. SadMonkey 08-29-2007, 12:41 PM Thankfully, my husband is out of there and is now off of supervised release but I wish the best for anyone who is still there. Arjayex - My husband went in a few years ago, but he SSed on a Monday and I was able to visit him that Friday. I think his father and sister also visited that first weekend as well. I *think* you have to be immediate family and I kind of recall that you have to be listed in the presentence report - I could be wrong about that though. Make sure he gets his paperwork in ASAP re: his visitor list. SSTROBEL 11-03-2007, 10:46 PM I Was Told That They Let Some Inmates Have Weekend Passes If They Live Close By. If Anyone Knows Please Reply Back. My Fiance Has Been In Fci Elkton For A Little Over A Year And Is Being Transferd To Morgantown By The End Of This Year.
