I've been to other forums on here and havent had any luck with my questions about this facility. I hope some one on here can help me.My son is supposed to be transferred here in Jan.and I have not heard anyone speak of this place. Is that good or bad!!!! I would like to know a few things if at all possible. I called there but they didn't tell me much.I know they have universal weights and the population is 1224.It is located right in town of
Sprinfield,Mo.and that is all I can get about it.It is also a medical facility.Would someone please please tell me something about a loved one being there and what to expect.

It's a medical prison. I have read that the only prisoners are those who need special medical treatment. I would imagine that problems with other prisoners would be minimal. They have some big time, famous people there, including mob bosses and terrorists. It looks like a castle in the middle of a huge mowed grass lawn. I know a guy who used to go there on business. He said the security is very tight. He played softball there once, and he said all the prisoners were very nice but they all wanted to know if he had any drugs or could find a way to get them some drugs. That's all I know, wish I could tell you more.

My husband is in Springfield. He has been there for about 2 years. It is a decent place. I have been out there twice. The visiting room is OK, the guards were really irritating. They wanted to pick and choose when they followed rules. It is true that there are alot of big time criminals there. It is not true that it is just a medical center. They have a work program and a psych program there as well. I believe the work program is called a camp. There are alot of people there that don't have medical problems. I don't know what else to tell you. You can pm me if you have any specific questions and i will try to answer them as best as I can. My husband is getting transferred closer to me in June.
