Hello All! I'm Suzanne and my husband is at Oakdale for the moment. Aaron has been able to call home up until the 21st anyway. He has $160 on his phone account but is unable to call now all of the sudden. Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to fix it? He couldn't even call me for Christmas :-( Thanks!

Thats weird Suzanne. Are u positive he has that much on his account?? And have u heard from him otherwise? In a letter maybe, did he say that he couldnt get thru, or are u just worried because he hasnt called you since the 21st? Is it possible that he could of got moved to a prison by now? If thats the case, some cant call right away, they have to go thru orientation first before they can make a call.

Anyway, just trying to understand more, it cant be because u have a block on, thats only if they would call collect, and Iowans dont call collect, they have to have money on their books to beable to call. Hope its something simple keep us posted, and good luck, hope you hear from Aaron soon!

Hi Heather :-) First off, yes Im positive about the amount because I called them today to verify that it had been received. I got 2 phone calls today, 1 from his cellies mom in Atlantic IA and one from his brother both saying hes worried about me and that his calls wont go through. He hasnt been moved, still hasnt even seen his so called counselor lol I called the counselor also today and left a msg about the problem and could he help? Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hmmmm, that does seem weird Suzanne.
I dont get why there would be a problem. The only thing I can think of is One time Ricky couldnt get thru, but that was because he was dialing the wrong number..DUH! LOL, and of course the phone recording told him it was an unauthorized call (the wrong number was not on his list...geez i wonder why LOL).
Ya, if you dont hear back from the councelor (he should atleast beable to direct you somewhere to get answers) make sure u keep calling til you talk to him. Im not sure, but I dont think Councelors are in on the weekends.

Ive been raking my brains trying to figure out why this could be happening to you, but maybe one of the other Iowa girls will come along and know something more. I hope you get this figured out soon, I know how it feels to want to hear their voice and cant. And when you do finally get this mess figured out, do come back and let us know what it was, im sure its prolly something silly (It usually is)

is he trying to call your cell phone? i mean, most of us are using cells and they can call us...but maybe they're deciding to use their executive authority to say they aren't going to allow him to call a cell? that's the only thing i can come up with.

wait, there's one more...but if it were the case, i think he would know about it. anyway, a family friend has a daughter in mitchelville and she has to earn the right to call, every time.

that's all i can come up with.

Oh Youre going to love this one! I did it to myself kind of. I ordered a new package from Qwest on the 22nd & told them to activate everything without thinking. Well they can get past the anonymous call rejection from Oakdale but not the fancy new Security Screen! I made me and Aaron cry thru Christmas. :-( I finally figured it out on the 27th so we can talk again! I did help a friend though who hadnt talked to her hubs since he got there, same problem, Security Screen. Thanks guys, hope my retardation helps someone else out!

Maybe you should try to call his counselor. I have talked to my husbands counselor before, he should be able to find the problem.
