CRETEIL, France (AP) — Two convicts who broke out of a French prison and took bystanders hostage were captured Tuesday after a confrontation with police in a suburban Paris highway tunnel, the public prosecutor said.

One of the prisoners, Christophe Khider, has been hospitalized with a gunshot wound in the shoulder, said Jean-Jacques Bosc, the public prosecutor for the Paris suburb of Creteil.
