I hope someone can help me. i am so confused. My husband was at SMCI and I use to visit him and we got conjugals etc etc. OK ...so he moved to Parchman from SMCi and when he went there he was put into unit 28 which they had just remodeled and it had previously been for HIv positive ppl but now is everyone and anyone. NE way, so he was put into there with 192 guys all at once and no case manager and then it took forever for himt oget a case manager and then finally the one he got had no computer so was helpless until that problem was fixed then poof he got moved to A&D though he finished A&D already. So he got a different case worker and he just wasn't too interested n doing anything bc he knew that the placement was temporary due to him and a bunch of others being there that had already finished A&D and just waiting to be moved from there. OK so now he gets moved again...all of this within the past month and 1/2...so now he has a case manager in prerelease and she said that she can give him the paperwork for the three day family visit but that the process is slow and that it will take a while...maybe even a few months and I told her that I was told that even though i am approved to visit him and in the computer as such, that if the computer is down when I come se him ALL THE WAY FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE U.S....that since there is no paper file on him, that I would be turned away. So today the case manager said that I could talk to visitation about it and so I talked to them and they said it is true that if I come and the system is down and they have no way to verify his list due to a lack of a paper file, then I would not be able to visit. They stated that it is his case managers job to give him the proper paperwork...but she syas it is up to visitation. I just want to see my husband. Why do I keep getting the run around??? HELP ANYONE OUT THERE>!!!!

at parchman you must have a visitation letter if you have never visted there before they can give you one at vist but if computers are down they can't but as far as I know the visitation dept is the only one that can give you this but they wont give it to you your husband will have to request it and send it to you

i'm sure rules change from time to time, and its been a year since my son was at parchman, but I called the visit lady and they mailed the forms to me and I mailed them back myself. You do have to take the form to each visit. I also called to make sure everything was complete and I could visit before going to Parchman the first time. IF they will not work with you, call downtown, turn the nice button way high!

Is it a family visit in the trailers on Parchman? If so they should send you a list of what you can and cannot bring.

I would call and ask them what items are allowed
