I was trying to condense this but there is too much good info that wouldn't get included. Here is a link and a synopsis

The Legal Action Center (http://www.lac.org/about.html)

LAC's Mission

The Legal Action Center is the only non-profit law and policy organization in the United States whose sole mission is to fight discrimination against people with histories of addiction, HIV/AIDS, or criminal records, and to advocate for sound public policies in these areas.

For three decades, LAC has worked to combat the stigma and prejudice that keep these individuals out of the mainstream of society. The Legal Action Center is committed to helping people reclaim their lives, maintain their dignity, and participate fully in society as productive, responsible citizens.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Legal Action Center (LAC) is dedicated to helping people who face discrimination based on their criminal history. Beginning with a series of class action law suits and other successful litigation in the 1970's and 1980's challenging discrimination in employment and government benefits, LAC has won precedent-setting victories opening up tens of thousands of jobs and many other opportunities across a wide range of areas of American life for these important and deserving constituencies. For legal citations and brief descriptions of cases brought by LAC, download the Legal Action Center’s Leading Cases which can be found in the
Free Publications (http://www.lac.org/pubs/gratis.html) Employment Discrimination and What to Do About it (Updated 2002) - This manual informs service providers about the state and federal laws that protect clients with criminal records, histories of alcohol and drug problems, and HIV/AIDS from being discriminated against by employers. It also provides practical guidance in how clients should handle discussions of these issues in job interviews and on employment applications. (Available for California, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia) (Funded by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, New York State Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives, and New York State Assembly)

HOW TO GET HELP (http://www.lac.org/full_project.html)

LAC's Criminal Justice Programs
The Legal Action Center helps improve the criminal justice system by:
assisting qualified people with criminal records in fighting discrimination and obtaining employment and services needed to re-enter society successfully;
advocating for reform of mandatory sentencing laws to enable community sanctioning of appropriate - especially non-violent, often addicted - offenders, and the expansion of funding for community corrections, including alternatives to incarceration;
analyzing barriers facing people with criminal records as they seek to obtain employment and housing and otherwise become responsible and productive contributors to society, and devising innovative responses to these issues; and
providing training and assistance to service providers and government agencies on all these issues.
The Legal Action Center provides programs both NATIONALLY (http://www.lac.org/programs/crimjus.html) and within NEW YORK STATE (http://www.lac.org/programs/crimjus.html)

I put a couple of links I didn't want anyone to miss, but, there is alot more!

(I realize it says 'service providers' and things like that. I ignore all that and go with the information). My youngest son gets out Feb 2005. To hear him talk it's tomorrow! He's got me all excited now, so now I'm on a Re-Entering kick!
