Yes, please. My son is being transferred to Darrington. His first time "in the system" Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

He just called again and said they are moving him to Cotulla instead of Darrington so I guess I will wait until tomorrow and call to make sure.
peggy26 07-11-2009, 06:21 AM My husband has been transfered to Darrington. He is being checked out for bladder cancer. What is the medical facility like? I'm so scared about all this.
He was at Segovia before, but started having lots of blood in his urine. It's hard to get answers on medical. I know they were supposed to do a CAT scan, now he's at Darrington.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ReggiesLady 07-11-2009, 08:47 PM Medical isn't great at any of the units but being that he's at Darrington it is very possible he is headed to a medical unit. How long has he been there?

Kajmir hasn't been online in a while. What exactly are you trying to find out? We that have loved ones there may be able to help answer your questions.
ladyt1719 08-14-2009, 05:11 PM Hello,
The Darrington unit has some skeletons in the closet. I am referring to the fronts they manage to put on for investigation purposes for major cases filed against inmates. I realize now that the prison system is not designed to help with the rehabilitation of inmates only to keep some of them captive. I have also come to realize that the Texas Department of Criminal Justice keeps getting richer and richer with every failed attempt an inmate makes to rehabilitate themselves. I am speaking out on this issue because I am a woman who is engaged to an inmate, well now that I have your attention I want you to know I am no weirdo with no direction or purpose in life so that I had to settle for a jailbird. The women who find love interests with men incarcerated have a voice and now that I am one of them I want to be heard. I am a fairly intelligent womam who has known this man since he was seven years old. He has been in prison since he was 18 years old he has been incarcerated for 16 years. The details of his stay there I would love elaborate on when you contact me. But for now I just need some help, inmates are being falsely accused of cell phones or cell phone contraband due to the recent chain of events that occurred here in the Texas prison system, maybe they are trying to keep quotas. His family and I are furious on the way the Darrington unit has handled a case pinned on our love one. To begin with they found a charger in the cell of which he shared with another inmate, both cases indicated two different places in which the charger was found. The case against my loved one says the charger was found on his bunk in plan view. The case involving the other inmate said it was found in his personal belongings. Needless to say my fiance was not even in the cell he was at a medical exam and when he returned that's when an officer informed him of their findings and then they told him he needed to tell them what he knew of the cellmate having a phone. They also told him the unit had recvieved calls from a family complaining that his cell mate had called them and harrassed them. To me that definitely puts my fiance out of the loop on this allegation but that was not the case he was informed if he does tell what he knows he is going down. He didnt know anything about these calls but he does have a past and he had just gotten his rank up from a G5 to a G4 which means he was on his way to earning good time and had certain privileges such as watching TV. This young man has not watched a televison set since 1995. A lieutenant told him when he was charged that they wrote a statement on his behalf to put him in a better light in this case and they did, but to no avail after two appeals they will not drop the charges or give him back his rank. The cell mate even wrote a statement that he owned the charger, but they will not use his statement I have the handwritten statement in my possesion my fiance sent it to me. Let me tell you how important this is to this young man, first of all he had just accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour after years of not believing in God and basically being angry at God for his situation. He had made tremendous strides in his behavior he has a past of disciplinary issues one case involved a cell phone that he did not own but the prison authorities at anothe unit did not believe he owned it because of the pictures and names on the address book. After this finding 6 months later his class went from a G5 to a G4. The Darrington unit however has found it neccessry to judge him only on his past and not the time he put into not getting any trouble, the way his attitude has changed, his demanor and his last but not least his rapport with the guards. I dont know where else to turn because getting his class back could mean him getting a chance at parole. So he can start his life a new.
Thankfully,

Thanks Brenda
peggy26 08-29-2009, 11:14 AM Thank so much for writing. I haven't checked my Ptalk for awhile. He was on the medical chain and ended up traveling all over, several times. They believe he has a cyst.
He is back at Segovia now.
Felipeswife 12-10-2009, 06:41 PM My husband was at the CT Terrell Unit for almost five years and then was transferred on Monday to Darrington with no explanation to him whatsoever. I only know because he sent me a letter today about it and I checked the TDCJ website and sure enough he is there. What would be the reason for just moving him from a minimum security medical unit to a maximum security unit? I'm worried for him.

My husband was just sent there this week too and we have no idea why because he only has 8 months left! From what I've been reading, this is a horrible place to be and I just got a letter from him today telling me the same thing. If you find anything out on your man and why he's there, let me know and i will do the same. We're baffles as to why he was moved (from Larry Gist in Beaumont).
kderrick 12-13-2009, 10:44 AM My friend has been in Darrington for over 2 years. I will be visiting there once again in January.
The place is what it is. It is an old unit so issues with plumbing and maintenance in general can be a problem.
ReggiesLady 12-13-2009, 10:22 PM Unfortunately, no explanation will be given. They move inmates for various reasons though. Darrington is not a good unit to be on in terms of contraband because there is so much of it but the best they can do is try to stay out of the drama and hope they won't be there for long.
kderrick 12-15-2009, 03:07 PM Oh yes far too much contraband. The last lockdown there were double digit cell phones found.
Keep their head up and out of trouble is the best advice one can give.
And make sure they have funds to purchase thermals right away as they tend to run out.
Felipeswife 12-16-2009, 06:28 PM My husband transferred from Darrington to the Torres Unit. Thank God he is out of that hell-hole. We still don't know why he went from Terrell to Darrington now to Torres which is now 3 hours away from me. I guess he never will be told the reason. Good luck to you all
kderrick 12-18-2009, 09:55 PM Well, now that he is out of there would you please share a few issues he might have encountered there and how he handled them.
Like my friend has issues with commissary sometimes. They will tell him they only will go one more time in the month. So they all spend like crazy. Then a week later they let them go again and they have no money and it is to late for me to send money.
Another issue I would love to see solved is regarding books. I would love for them to post the "forbidden" list. It is very hard to guess what is in or out this week.
Thanks.
