justjane 12-21-2003, 12:51 PM I sent one book, made a compilation CD for him and sent him a paper copy of it with the cover art and all the lyrics on it (it turned out great :)), "framed" 3 poems using some publishing software and printed them off on regular white paper and created a couple of photos of the 2 of us when we were kids (I'll attach the image so you know what I'm talking about). I also wrote him just a one page love letter on special stationary I created myself and handwrote it in gold ink for his Christmas "stocking". OH! And I sent him funny pictures of me all dressed up in different costumes.
CelliePieGrrl 12-21-2003, 01:37 PM I sent my baby 3 Christmas cards, 3 Chanukah cards (he's Jewish:) and we celebrate both holidays together), some pictures of me he wanted, a sexy book ;), a book on sayings, poems, etc about love, a calendar of his favorite comic strip "Get Fuzzy," and a sexy holiday pillowmail from www.pillowmail.com. It was the best ever! ;) I know he's going to love all his gifts!

Here4you4ever 12-22-2003, 08:33 PM How do you guys get to send all these things -= chains, CDs, calendars, homemade books...? I sent him a Get Fuzzy calendar and they rejected it - in fact, they took money out of his books to pay for the postage to return it! So I had to resort to pictures and paper cutout snowflakes :-(
MTContrary 12-22-2003, 09:04 PM We can't really send much of anything. Magazines subscriptions. I sent him a men's fitness magazine subscription; i tried sending books awhile back but one was rejected b/c it had a map, the other, a harley book was too big so i gave up on books. i sent three Christmas cards he'll get Wednesday. That's it
jesse'sgirl88 12-22-2003, 09:11 PM Teach - Arizona must be like Florida. You can't send crap. Nothing is allowed, you have to become extremely creative. I wish I could send CD's, calendars, etc. Books and magazines only and they have to be from a bookstore or publisher. I can only send paper, cards, stamps, etc. It is hard.
Roosangel 12-22-2003, 10:14 PM I sent him extra money so he can get a new pair of tennis shoes even tho he just got a new pair for his bday but they are selling a new kind and he liked them so he got them. We can't send anything really books have to come from teh publisher and he thinks thats a waste. So I got him magaizne subs. to his favorite magazines.
justjane 12-23-2003, 12:48 AM The only thing besides letters, cards and photos I can send are books and magazines. The "CD" I sent him was just a paper version of the actual CD I made. He'll get the Cd itself when he comes home. The paper version is a picture of the cover art and label I designed and then all the lyrics formatted nicely. I always put a little comment after each song telling him why I included that particular song. It's fun!
Here4you4ever 12-23-2003, 05:46 AM JustJane - OH! Well that answers my question about the CD -and what a cool idea! I am going to do that! Do you think a subscription to the local newspaper is a good idea? But maybe I should call first and see if it is allowed...might be too informative.
dkr55 12-23-2003, 07:12 AM i bought mine a computor(which i'm using) scanner/printer/copier/,a jeff gordon coat,a nascar 2004 calendar and his stocking stuffers, nascar collectibles, abunch of santa baby pictures, and 50.00,the computor, scanner, collectibles, and coat i took pictures of so they are waiting here on him .the rest i sent to him.he got them and was totally blown away, now when he calls instead of talking about him training lexi we talk about his computor and his coat. gotta love it though.
SamsWife 12-23-2003, 08:05 AM I sent Sam "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul" directly from Amazon.com... I hope he gets it! I also got him a subscription to Source magazine, put $100 on his books and sent him butt-loads of pictures of the boys and a "naughty" puzzle of pictures of me to put together!! :)
Morrigan68 12-23-2003, 08:47 AM Nick can only get money, books and magazines. Anything else he needs he has to buy himself from the prison store.
justjane 12-24-2003, 08:18 PM Teach - definitely call and find out if you can do the subscription because they may not allow any publications ordered by anyone other than the inmate. I don't know that they would ban newspapers as being too informative unless it was an indy newspaper - but sticking with the mainstream is just fine I'm sure. I think if they will allow it, a newspaper subscription is a great idea! It will give you both something to talk about.
Here4you4ever 12-24-2003, 08:36 PM I called today and she said no on the newspaper - but she was actually very nice to talk to and even gave me some ideas - go figure! She said I can send up to five cassette tapes as long as they are in clear cases - so now I will go shopping for some cassettes. Oh, and of course, they have to be mailed directly from the store. And hey....it's Christmas Eve, what are you doing on the computer! LOL!
justjane 12-24-2003, 09:26 PM Oh! Good! I'm really glad you can get the cassettes! That's wonderful. Too bad on the newspaper though. I wonder how come? Can he have books sent in from a bookstore?
I'm on the computer on Christmas Eve because all my family are in other parts of the country and I decided that this year I would do something nice for myself - stay away from them LOL j/k!!! :D
Here4you4ever 12-25-2003, 06:07 PM It's Christmas Day, JustJane, I am laughing.......give yourself a gift and stay away - hahahaha....Good one.
