My husband recently arrived at Mack Alford in Stringtown and I was wondering:

1. When or how often and for how long can our visits be (he is a Level 1, I believe)
2. Is he allowed to make phone calls?
3. Can he receive photos in his mail?
4. Do Money Orders have to be mailed separate from letters?
5. Etc, etc, etc.

Any information would be welcomed.

The best thing to do is call the prison and speak to his case manager as then you'll get the right answers to all your question's

Ok I can help my hunny was at Mack when they firts moved him so You can visit once a week As for how long he gets I am not sure about that since Terry was already a level 4 when we went there. You can bring in a clear bag with no more than 20 dollars of quarters in it, one unopened package of cigarettes, MATCHES ONLy no lighters, your id, a deck of card or a dominoes. Other than that make sure you are completely clean of everything else. They are fairly strict about the visits watch you closely there. they ave a small outside area for smoking with picnic tables. You can mail the money orders in with letters but make sure you have his DOC number on the money order and that the name on the mmoney order matches the name on the outside of the envelopes, they can have pictures but not poliroids sent in , although you can buy poliriods at visit from them. Remeber to know your tag number because they will send you back out if you don't. They can make collect calls but only after you they approve the number and they are only allowed a certain number of numbers on their list. I hope that helps and if you can any questions I didnt cover give me ayell or call the prison they are good about answering them.

My fiancee just moved from Mack Alfred about 3 months ago. Which side are you talking about? Min. or Med.? My fiancee was on the min. side and things weren't that bad. Mamahen is right you must know your tag # and only $20 in change but you can slide with that if you breakup your rolls because when I was going they didn't count it. They probably watch you close at first because he is new. I got to know the guards which they switch every 6months, I was a regular. I've seen many come and go. If you take a pic while you are there bring the pic back and make copies and send the copy back to him. Wal-mart has that neat machine where you can add borders and they look so much better then a polaroid. At least there you can take pic outside, where my man is now you have to take them inside w/a white wall behind you. I experienced yesterday at the facility where my fiancee is now that they wouldn't even let us take a pic in front of the Christmas Tree, that's pretty sorry. Be prepared to get patted down, it use to be nothing but it could have changed, where we go now they don't even touch you or check your bag or your money and you get to bring in 2 packs of cigs. Good luck.

My Son is also at Mack Alford. I hope to help you. Level one is a one hour visit behind the glass. You will not be allowed to take anything with you for that visit. In the past, you could take change to get them something and the gaurd would take it in for them but you can no longer do that. I am speaking on the med. side to the prison. Phone calls are allowed once you are approved on his calling list. Photos are allowed in the mail. I send a lot of them to my Son. I have learned that you can send five photos along with a one page letter without extra postage. As for MO'S, you may send them along with letters, they will take them out during the mail search. But be sure to have his doc # and your name with your complete address on the money order. If he is on level two, it is a two hour visit. Level three a three hour visit and level four is an all day visit from 8:30 until 3:00. They are real picky on the dress code. You can not wear black or white shirts of any kind. I'm sure you are aware of the rest of the dress code, nothing to short, cut to low and all that. You can take, if on level two and above, 1 unopened pack of smoke, a lighter or matches, $20 in change, cards, or dominoes. Photos can be taken at all visits for $2.00 or it may be $2.25, that I can't remember for sure. He can take the photos back with him. His visiting day, Saturday or Sunday will depend what unit he is on. I hope this is some help to you. Feel free to PM me any time if I can help you. Take care and good luck!
