I live in Morrilton,my family and I visited just yesterday with my brother.I know alot more than I did before about Brickeys now that we have been there twice..visitation depends on their last name...where are you located ? maybe we can talk by phone sometime. I know from what my brother tells me that Brickeys is awful, I do know it is rated very low for cleanliness,he has been switched three times to different barracks since he went there ( 6 weeks ago) but fianlly got to somewhere that he can sleep at night without worrying..If I may ask what are his charges ? my brother is in on aggravated robbery and believe me his night of drugs and alcohol that got him into this situation has given him a wakeup call, hope to hear from you soon....Shirley Michelle7601 08-14-2004, 09:45 PM My Husband is currently in Brickeys also! This is a first time thing for me and my family so I cant offer much information about it but..I guess we could share any information that we have. If there is anything I can help you with or any information I can give you, please feel free to email me. angellost 10-24-2007, 11:28 AM hellomy husband is currently at brickeys unit. and the things he tells me are not good at all. txspitfire 10-25-2007, 09:12 AM Hello, My b/f is at Brickey also. It seems to be a place most hated by all the inmates. I have not visited there yet. I sure haven't heard anything good about the place, but I guess no prison is good. Ranger1975 10-25-2007, 11:04 AM Hi, my brother is at Brickeys. He has been writing and sending newspaper clippings for a while about how bad is has been. He's not a very tough person, got 30 years for some first offense drug related stuff. Maybe that is why he makes it seem bad, but I am not sure. He writes a lot of bad things about money, and always needs money. I am worried he has developed a drug habit there. He writes that he needs a lot of money there for things like extra food, shaving and hygene stuff, medical/dental care, and other things. How much is enough? My dad sends him $60 per month. For a while I was sending about $100 per month. what do you all think? ittybittykitty 10-25-2007, 01:46 PM Well it is expensive, the prices are jacked up really higher than they should be and they are responsible for their own hygene supplies, under clothes and socks, and IF they want extra food that to is expensive. I have read alot lately on the things happening there and it is not good what the papers are saying so I would say your brother is not just telling you that. Good Luck to you and your family,And Thank you for serving our country !!! Be Blessed Kitty MYBROTHERJOE80 10-29-2007, 06:30 AM my brother is in brickey he has been in the system for several years and he says that brickey is a hrad place to be MYBROTHERJOE80 10-29-2007, 06:32 AM my brother is always asking for money too, we try to send him stuff but he says that he never gets it , i know it is to pay off the quards, they do threaten the inmates there txspitfire 11-01-2007, 09:21 AM My b/f is at Brickey. He has been in other units and some were not too bad for what they were. I have not visited Brickey yet. I hear notheing good about it. I send money to him also. It takes a lot there if you want to survive. It takes a lot for food. The food there is horrible and very little of it. My b/f is in ad seg. right now. I won't visit because I was told that he would be brought out in handcuffs and shackles and somehow shackled to a pole or something like that. He would remain like that for the entire visit. I would do nothing during the visit but sit there and cry seeing him that way. It would just make it harder on him too. If anyone knows anything about this type of visit, please let me know. This was told to him by other inmates. Sounds inhumane to me but that seems to be ADC's way of handling things. ittybittykitty 11-01-2007, 10:22 AM I have heard of visiting thru glass but I have not heard about them being shackled. That would be tough to have to see.Kitty ittybittykitty 11-01-2007, 10:22 AM I have heard of visiting thru glass but I have not heard about them being shackled. That would be tough to have to see.Kitty FinallyFree 11-02-2007, 10:59 AM It is by far the worst and dirtiest prison in the system. I know pwoplw that have been there and from the day they got there they started with paperwork to get transferred. Not a good place. Ranger1975 11-03-2007, 07:49 AM I think the lawyers tried to get my brother out of Brickeys, but I think ADC wants to keep him there because it is the worst. I am trying to figure out a way to do something. He will probably not get parole, and has about 20 more years. At least if I can get him someplace a little better to do his time. Anybody who can pm me with suggestions? missmyson2 11-06-2007, 09:01 PM He can keep his Class for some time and apply for Vo-Tech, . . .Brickeys does not have one so he would br transferred. Sadly the list could be long, but get on it. charles'mom 06-17-2008, 01:16 PM :)My son is incarcerated at Brickeys. Yeah, it's not the best unit, I suppose. He wants to transfer somewhere closer to home (Brickeys is a 260 mile, one-way trip from where my husband live). One of the biggest obstacles is actually getting transferred, BUT the other obstacle is that there are two inmates within the Arkansas prison system, brothers. My son's testimony against one of them was instrumental in this guy getting an 86-year sentence. The other guy, well, he's a brother to the first. ANYWAY, my son's great fear {and it's a very real fear} is that should he be transferred to one of the units these two brothers is at, his life would be in grave danger. SO, I have found out where these two guys are, and will send my son that information, and hopefully, he can work from that. Due to the length of my son's sentence, he's in maximum security, so I've got to find information on other max security facilities closer to our home. You know, I found this site--well, I stumbled onto it--while doing a search for info on max secutiry facilities in Arkansas. And when I have more time, I thoroughly plan on coming back to it as much as is possible. It's comforting, in a huge way to have a forum such as this. And to be quite honest, I had no idea there was anything like this on the web, but I am so glad there is! |
