What are the requirements for that? Do you have to sign up like 3-6 months in advance or what? I am really anxious to get to be with him for more than just an hour alone. i use to enjoy sleeping next to him so much. I would love that so much!!!! What does he have to do? He should be moved to Parchman soon to pre-release. Does pre-release still get it?

He must be A custody for 6 months and 1 year RVR free.

Once those requirements are met, he can apply for family visit

Hey, My husband is in Parchman. After he is there I think six months and is in A custody for a year and rvr free for 6 months you can go to thefamily house for either the weekend which is fri-mon or you can go for a week mon-fri. For the weekend it is $30.00 and for the week its $40.00.
Its like an apartment, its ok. The officers will come and blow the horn every 2 hours or so in the day and every hour through the night, he has togo to the door in his green pants. You have to bring all your food and supplies, no glass or knives. You will need to cut up all your stuff before you go.
if you need any more info let me know

luvn him 4 25 years

Hi there, I just saw your comment and would like to know about it. My baby and I will hopefully get married soon and I want to know how those visits work and what we have to do if anything to get it. Also do you have more information about weddings?

Wow! Well where my husband is located, I am not sure about the process for weddings becasue he and I got married at a different facility and had to go through marriage counseling and get blood tests and provide various documentation regarding divorce papers if there was a previous marriage and basically just a lot of details. The rules were endless and i thought I would have a nervous breakdown over it all. Finally we got married and it was in the visiting room and with other couples doing the same thing. But as far as I was concerned we were the only ones in the room and still makes me smile and cry to think about it. I have been married before but it was if tmy past marriage never happened. I have never felt so happy as that day. We do get one hour conjugals whenever I go visit him and every 90 days we get 72 hours together. You can also get Mon thru Thursday, so may be longer but I did not want to be away from my kids and job that long. NE way so basically we were in the midddle of no where in a little house that was actually quite cute and he carried me into the house that we now refer to as our honeymoon suite and we had a blast just him and i. Since I live far away, this was much needed time for us to bond again. It was a bit stressful bc I was afraid that without the ability to leave there and without his ability to talk about places he had been and was limited to talk about prison, that we may get bored. It isn't as if we could leave and go to a movie and the TV stations ont he TV's are limited so do not provide much entertainment. We of course spent most of the time in bed but also cooked out on the little barbeque grills and I remember being so stressed out and wondering if all the hassle and preparation (bc I had to travel for over 1,000 miles and buy a lot of stuff that I guess most ppl just bring from home but I couldn't due to being on a plane), would really be worth it. But it was worth it and I will cherish those days because it was our honeymoon and regardless of all the stories I had heard about how un-romantic marrying in prison would be and about how sad it is to marry in prison...it was very ery memorable and very sweet and romantic. After we said our vows, he took my hand and led me to the middle of the floor where he sang in my ear and danced with me. Everytime I think of it I just really gush with the sweetest of memories.:o:p:)

I also got married at a different facility but the rules are the same for the 3 State facilities. Have you started the process yet? I'll be glad to help in any way I can.
Good luck!

Hi there Glamma, I am living in New Jersey and he is in Parchman so I am a little concerned that we will not have enough time for me to get there and set up everything.
We have done the paperwork and they told us it is in Jackson MS now and will not be looked at until the middle of August and than has to be approved by the Superintendent.
I have no idea on if someone can come to the wedding, about the rings and the clothes. I also would like to know if there is any way to spend some time with him after as it takes me 18 hours to drive there and another 18 to go back home. Any information is appreciated.

I also did the ceremony via long distance travel.

We were given 3 weeks notice on the date, but that is not guaranteed; that was our experience.

You may invite two guests to the wedding but they have to be approved as visitors prior to the ceremony. Although I have friends and family there, we did not invite anyone. It was way too early! I had to be there at 8 and the ceremony was at 9.

We were allowed to exchange rings. My hubby asked me to get the least expensive band I could as he was afraid of theft.

You can dress up for the occasion, wear jeans or anything in between. There were six other couples at our ceremony and the clothing ran the gamut. DO keep in mind that whatever you wear has to meet visiting dress code. No sleeveless, no see through, etc.

The policy is no time is given for visit after the ceremony, however if there are several couples involved it will take a little time for the County Clerk to finish the paperwork and for the Chaplain to make copies for you.

I got lucky with a Friday ceremony and was able to visit on his visit day which was the following Sunday.

Wishing you well.

I appreciate it you telling me your story. It would be so nice if we could have a day before the regular visit. He does not have anyone else on his list so I will be the only one who goes there, I guess I can of have to be there lol.

It is sad that they wont give you even a little time after to talk before I have to go.

Right now I am waiting to hear from them if we are approved and hopefully this will be in the near future and than figure out how to get there and what to wear. My brother brought us the rings as a gift, but I may not want to use them if they going to make a problem for him in there.

I know I ask a lot of questions, but I am not even from the US and dont know much about the laws etc. All we know is that we love each other and will always be together even if it will be only in our hearts.

Has it ever happened that someone with life w/o parole got parole at a later time?

Once you are married and as long as he meets all the requirements as time and no RVRs for at least 6 months he can put in the request.

Thank you Mrs. Glamma, he has no rvrs and he has been locked up for 5 1/2 years. I know I saw on here where someone said they have to be there for a year...do they mean that facility or locked up at east a year? Also do you know how long the process takes once he puts in the request. Thank you for your help.

I believe it is time in MDOC. I also forgot that he must have been A custody for at least 6 months for the extended visits. That program was not available at our facility so I do not know the time line from request to approval. They are available at 90 day intervals.
