Hi does anyone know anything about British laws and a witnesses rights
can they be made to testify?

Yes, they can be made to testify! They would be subpeoned (sp?), and if they do not turn up they are in contempt of court, and a warrant will go out for their arrest.

Hi thanks 2nice so if he is forced to testify, can he just say nothing? or will he get into more trouble for not saying anything once in court.

You could probably be held in contempt of court if you didn't say anything when asked. If called as a witness you will be subjected to examination and cross-examination, possibly several times.

And also you say "British criminal law", no such thing. Scotland has an entirely different legal system to England and Wales, where are you referring to specifically?
