I haven't heard anything speciffically about D/V release, but there is a 3 federal judges panel deciding whether to place a cap on the population in California prisons. If that happens then the consensus is that 52,000 inmates could possibly be released. They are saying low level & short term inmates would be first consideration for release. Violent offenders most likely will not release, it will depend on the crime & time sentenced.

I got more than 58,000 hits by googling California prison population cap & California prison plans

There are also a number of relevant articles posted in the California News and Events forum.

Nothing I've read or heard has suggested that those in prison for domestic violence are on the "short list" for early release.
