I have a 1 gallon glass pickle jar with a metal lid (same shape as a smaller pickle jar, mayonnaise jar, etc).

I wanted to do something with it, but am not sure what. My first idea was a snow globe but my boyfriend pointed out it would be very heavy. The only other idea I have right now is to fill it with potpourri and white X-mas lights and cover the top with lace. Plug the lights in and as they heat up, the potpourri smells. (I've seen these in craft stores).

But I'd really like to hear other ideas. Anything at all. :D

A terrarium would be fun !!! There are all different kinds, you could make whatever you like. There are dessert types, tropical types, some people plant orchids in them. Youtube can give you ideas and lessons on how to make different types. You can look for bargans on the plants, that's what I did ... got cheap leftovers from Lowe's at 90% off and used the babies.

Use decoupage, a "suncatcher" kit or oil paint to decorate it, then use it to collect all your spare change- You'll be shocked at how much it adds up when the jar is full!

Or, Decorate it for use as a "Blessings Jar"
You write down on small cards the things for which you're grateful (Anything from healthy kids to having found three things on your grocery list that were on sale) and put the cards in the jar... try to add one a week. Then when you're feeling low, you pull one out and you're reminded to count your blessings.

A close cousin to the Blessings Jar is the Prayer Jar.
Each card should have some virtue or fault written on it, then you pull out a card and pray either for ways to acquire or enhance that virtue or to avoid or overcome the weakness.

My daughter paints things on clear, glass jars, water carafes or vases. These were the favorite Christmas gifts that our family got this year.

You could also use it during the summer to make SUN TEA!!

Or like Lebeau said, use it to put your spare change in. You can decorate it with pictures of things you want and use that as an incentive to collect/save more change!! If you want a new digital camera (just an example, could be anything you want) then you could paste pictures of digital cameras around the jar and throw in all your change (and extra too if you have it) and in a few months (or whatever time limit you have in mind) you should have enough for your goal.

I like to GLUE the lid shut and put a slit in the top of the lid to put the money in so this way I am not tempted to take the money out before its time!! :D

My daughter is a pickle freak so I have quite a few of these jars (from Costco) lying around!! :p

Have fun with whatever you decide to do!! :)
