It is a safety feature. HotLatinaMILF4U 12-17-2003, 10:05 AM cause men love to run a"round"? outshineswisdom 12-17-2003, 06:48 PM ? you got me Why does the government try to keep important stuff from us (i.e. aliens and the truth about space and how many other life forms are really out there)? ...KD... Circles won't fall into a circle...a square will. That'll be $125 engineering fee, please! :p ~Michelle Slainte 12-17-2003, 08:53 PM Phil, you're so bad! :D The commonly told story, which may even be true, is that manhole covers are round so they can't be accidentally into dropped into the manhole. The manufacture of circular manhole covers is easier and more accurate than the manufacture of covers of any other shape. You can roll round manhole covers, which is good, cuz they're wicked heavy :) do I dare ask why you ask, Teb? Chevygal55 12-17-2003, 11:52 PM LOL @ Phil!!! So did anyone get it right???? Sewergrrl 12-18-2003, 06:07 AM Originally posted by jessp You can roll round manhole covers, which is good, cuz they're wicked heavy :) A standard sanitary sewer manhole cover is made of cast iron and weighs approximately 80 pounds. Ever tried to roll one? Not as easy as it sounds... :p lovinbilly4ever 12-18-2003, 03:46 PM SEE i knew sewer could answer it..(i cheated i sent her the link) lol :D but thats pretty interesting...;) |
