mci sucks ... we all know this...
i paid 550.00 today. i have a balance of 70.00 they still wont unblock my collect calls. i went to a western union and the customer service lady was nice enough to say give me the receipt number but then she saw the high toll has the block which she cant over ride it... the high toll dept. wont take off this block unless i pay the 70.00 that never happened before and the bill date is dec 29th.. they are giving me a hard time all of a sudden. they just want money, money, money for these calls.
if i didnt have to have a phone, i wouldnt bother.. mci has so many department and phone numbers and reps that dont know their ass to their elbow. my friend is fighing them also by writing her state legislator. we have to do something about this soon, poor service and high collect calls...

Unfortunatley I went through the same thing 2 months ago and my bill was only $220.00. But because I needed $15 more dollars they wouldn't budge, no matter who I talked to, cried to, yelled at..... I'm sure I will be in the same situation this month as my bill is $981.00...... They like to play games and make us mad!!!! Wish I could offer help! Just only my experiance.

my friend that i go upstate with wrote to her legislator.. i dont know what to do ... i wrote 2 complaint letters to mci. heard back nothing.. one rep told me last week that my outstanding balance of 537 has nothing to do with them turning on my new number at my new apartment but today they said it errored out and have to pay my bill before the other number can be on... then another rep gives me another answer transfers me to another department.. on one sheet of paper i have 7 phone numbers and then you have to repeat the whole thing over again... 7.80 for a phone call... when you can call florida for 10 cents a minute. the calls should just be like 3.80 for 30 minutes... tops 5.00 if anything... we need to talk to our husbands... like today i had such a bad afternoon i came home crying because of mci and because a check cashing place that always cashes my check because one guy wasnt there they didnt cash my check ... i was in tears. times like this you need the comfort of your husbands or loved one.. mci messed me up.. i despise them. LET US PROTEST AGAINST MCI

Can we get figures of what calls cost BEFORE MCI took over? Are there people this is hurting and people this is helping (commpaired to before MCI contract), if so which is in the majority; or are we all being hurt by this?

There is a petition going around NYS and I believe there was a link to it at one time where you can complain about MCI. I'm not sure if it's been turned in or not yet, but I will try to find out as soon as I can.

MCI is a pain in the a**!!! They have blocked my phone so many times and I have spoke to supervisors and supervisors' supervisors to get the blocks off. But what kills me is they would block the phone before the bill was even due and I was NEVER late on my bills. That was my argument with each and every one of those supervisors that I have never been late with a payment so why would they just randomly block my phone. Actually, I was able to get one supervisor to put a note in my file that my number is not to be blocked without talking with a supervisor first. I haven't had any blocks since (knock on wood)! Unfortunately for us we are in a no-win situation and it seems hopeless in fighting them. This isn't only an MCI issue it is a DOC issue also. They're making money off of our calls and I refuse to let them take my whole paycheck. My husband and I limit his calls to only once a week and only 4 calls every Wednesday night and that is it!!
But if there is a petition going around, I would sign it in a heartbeat and if there isn't, maybe we should think about starting one and trying to do something about this. I'm down with whatever you gals want to do. Let me know

Yes, you can talk to Florida for 10 cents a min. But Pataki can't do anything about that. But when you call the correctional facilities, he gets a chunk of that cost.
In case you weren't aware, The DOC makes a commission on each call (probably 50%). Now THAT'S what the MCI contract is all about.

One thing that worries me, the funds that the state is getting from these calls, suppsoedly, pays for various family services, the free bus and things like that. Is there any way to prove the money is going for such things? And will they start hitting us from other angels if we do get enough momentum going to turn this MCI contract around?
It is all so frustrating!! lets get something going or keeps omething going.
Tammy, I would think if blocking without any reason kept happening there might be grounds for harrassment. I mean, for pete's sake , there's no law against having a high phone bill if you always pay your bills and on time. sheesh!
I agree we need to find a solution to this. I also remember a thread with a link to a petition website but I don't know hwo to find it again..
