Hello; This is my first time checking into this site. So pardon my ignorance. I am from California and my husband has been incarcerated for the past sixteen months and still has 10 months to go. We were recently denied a congegal visit and he's currently going through the 602 appeal process. They have not responded and it's been over 30- days. Does anyone know who to contact in the state dept.? Apparently when you go through the appeal process it goes through differenent stages. First through the counselors office then to the warden and then to the state dept. This is a weird situation cause my husband and I were approved for two congegal visits when he was at a prison in Jamestown, CA and now that he's been transferred to a CDF fire fighters camp and has a new counselor we were denined.
Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hey supermom! I am from Cali, but not too familiar with the family visit issues, as my husband is a 3rd striker with 25 to life, so they do not get family visits at all. You can try the VIP_Cali Yahoo group. They deal with California Prison visiting issues only. Here is there website:

Hope they can help!!

my sons dad is at jamestown... once they go to fire camp I do not think they allow the visits.. I am not sure why but most people are denied for congical once in the fire camp...

Shortie's absolutely right. There are no conjugal visits at fire camp, they have no facilities for it. You have to be at a mainline prison. Plus with less than a year to go your chances are real slim.------Ken

Hello There Everyone,

Just getting back online. They do have the facilities available for Conjugal visits at the CDF fire fightere camp in Georgetown, CA and guys have been approved. But like one of you mentioned, as my husband has less than a year to go now, and by the time you get through this stupid appeal process he should be out by then. Thanks again for all of your support. God Bless and good luck to you all with your loved ones.

Thats good to hear, I haven't heard of Georgetown, but one of the old complaints about going to camp was no bone yard visits. It's good to hear that things are changing. Please let us know if you hear of any other camps that allow them. Thanks-------Ken
