I have to share this great news with everyone. There is this very nice man who was in prison with Chris who was finally released. He was serving a life sentance for 2nd degree murder. I'm not saying that what he did was alright, but he isn't a cold blooded killer. He had been up for parole for quite some time and kept getting denied. Finally this October the board said he could be released as soon as all the paper work was done for his release. On October 23rd they told him it would be about 4-6 weeks. I've met this man as he has been a good friend of Chris and I check all the time to see if they have released him. I had hoped that they would have had him out by thanksgiving, but that didnt' happen. The prison tends to drag their feet here and I was starting to get irritated that he wasn't out yet and worried that they weren't going to have him out for Christmas. I checked on Friday and he was still there. When I checked today he has been released to parole. The weekend after his hearing his daughter came down from California and his girlfriend was there and the family was so happy that he was finally coming home. I know this man and know that he will make it on parole and now him and his loved ones have the best christmas gift anyone could get. I hope that as the holiday nears we can have more stories like this.

Merry Christmans Wally you deserved this......

I loved hearing that story!!! My husband also has a close friend whose story is very simialr to the one you related. He did not do the crime he is in for and he refused to say he did so the board has always turned him down despite an absolutely spotless record since he has been in AND his contributions/dedication to the education of others inside...but, finally, last fall, the board has indicated they may let this man out. I hope I have a similar story to share with ya's before long!

Thats wonderful! I am glad he has his family to help him adjust. My ex has been in 28 yrs now. And if Texas should ever decided to let him out he is going to be in shock!

So I am really happy to hear that this Man is home now... with family! A wonderful time of the year!! :D
