Hi all. I am alarmed at the very few responses to planning a get toghether. I amm proposing a date of 9-21-02 at my house. I won't be able to attend anyother ones that scheduled after this date. I just got a new job and I will be in class on saturdays until November. So I just thought I would throw this out and see if there are any bites, if no that is okay. Well I hope to hear from all.:cool:

Oh Tigger! That's my visiting weekend and being a newlywed and all....well you know, I gotta see my sweetie at least every other week. Don't worry though, we'll come up with something. Why not a Sunday afternoon??

Oh yeah! I like the Bonnelli Park idea too! We could have a Sunday afternoon potluck picnic! What do you think? Where is the rest of So Cal?????

might be getting married on sept 19 so not sure but I would sure love to meet you family ... so tentatively count me in for being 110 percent interested! We shall do it even if it takes a min. and I should find out soon (you would think so as it is Sept practically) whether I will be a Sept bride or a April bride.

Ok,it looks like Sunday would be better for everyone. How about the 15, 22, or the 29th. Pot Luck Picnic at Bonelli Park. If there is anyone who doesn't have transportation or needs a ride let me know. We should by the week of September 8th how many are planning to come and what they will be bringing.

Just popping in with a question...How far is your get together from San Quentin Prison?? Moos will be traveling to California and she will be there for two weeks, which would include the Sunday the 15th. I'm not sure of distance and hours, but just curious if it would be feasible for her to attend?!

I sure wish I could, I may join Sherri on that idea in a couple of years though!!

Orange County is probably around a 7 hour drive from San Quentin....? Maybe less. Using Huntington Beach as a starting point, it's a total of 426.7 miles, 6 hours and 33 minutes according to Yahoo! Maps.

Ok guys how many can make it on the 15th?, and how many can make it on the 29th? Eithere date is feasible for me. San Quentin is approx. 7 hours from my house in La Verne. How I know this is because Kris is just north of San Quentin as a matter of fact when I leave from Marin County I drive right past it. Let Moos know that if she wants to make a detour to here to please speak up and that we would love to have her here.

Silver, what time do you go to visit? and how long are you usually there? I have the feeling this might be a few hours long.

Also I need to know if anyone is bringing children, cuz if there are going to be children we need to make sure we go somewhere where there are playthings for them. I know Bonelli Park has some playground equipment and there is Puddingstone Lake there also. So if it is hot enough we can make sure that we have it near a beach so kids could swim. Don't anyone worry about Kris being there cuz he isn't due to be released till October. It is hard for me to put that there but I am slowly learning the honest truth about people and that that is people don't like the label he has.

To drive that far in that amount of time, you would have to avg. 65.64 miles per hour. Apparently, they have the total distance figured at hwy speed?

B-Ray, Yahoo uses coordinating speeds according to the community roads, and highway speeds that you must travel :)

Thank you for all the replys, but time is growing short my friends so we need to really decide on a date. Bonneli Park is in San Dimas which is LA County. Again if anyone needs a ride let me know and we will work on getting you a ride.

O.K. Tigger! I'm a take charge kind a gal! Our Cali get together will be on Sunday, September 29th at 1:00 PM at Bonelli Park in Pomona.

That gives us enough time to make sure we get in touch with all So Cali members, work out the details and even set a menu (potluck) determining who will bring what. Makes it easier for everyone, so we all don't have to bring duplicate stuff.

Tigger, do you know if they have barbeques at Bonelli or do we have to bring our own??

I'll bring barbeque turkey burgers, hot dogs, hamb. & hot dog buns, condiments & charcoal. If anyone wants beef hamburgers, let me know and I'll get those too. Oh yeah! I'll also have my 14 year old son with me. He thinks he's the barbeque "chef"!! LOL If I have time, I'll throw together a macaroni salad too. Boy I really shouldn't be gone for so long. I am so thankful though to have help with this. I am busy with work and have had to much other on my mind.

Hello everybody! I haven't heard from Fed-X on a listing for So. Cali, so I am going to proceed with those that have responded here and others that I have been able to capture from other forums as So Cali residents. Anyway, I will be out of town tomorrow through Sunday visiting my husband...yahoo!! I am going. I just need to know where in the park we are meeting, & how many people are comming so I know how much stuff to bring. I think last I heard I was supposed to bring plates, cups, napkins, plastic utensils. I need to confirm this too. ----------Ken

I hate to do this at the last minute, but we will have to postpone tomorrow's get together for several reasons. I went to the park today to check out spots and the fires are burning pretty close. Traffic was a nightmare because it is the last day of the fair. Just now on my way home from the fair, I can see the flames right there in the mountains above the park, so the air is pretty thick from the smoke. Tigger (who started the idea) will be working the last day of the fair, Mrs. H's transmission went out so she's without transportation until next week and others cannot make it because of the date. Weather is also questionable, as it was pretty cool, overcast and some drizzle today. I talked to Tigger at the fair and we thought that maybe it would be better to have it sometime in Oct. or early Nov.

Now, since it will more than likely be even cooler by then, I will host the party at my house. I have a modest home in No. Ontario (just north of the airport) that I have been blessed with. There is a swimming pool, but the water will only be for the brave as the temperature will be dipping with the temperatures. Barbeque is ready and willing. I just have to clean my house!!

So, put everything in the freezer. Don't throw it away! We'll post a date soon. I will call those whose phone numbers I have and PM everyone else. SORRY :( :(

Wow...ok, I was typing up my "I'm sorry I can't make it" post when I saw the one cancelling the gaterhing tomorrow.

it stinks that it has to be cancelled for tomorrow but I'm a bit relieved :) I should be able to make one later in the year (it's almost over!?).

On a different note, I thought that fire was 80% contained. Are we getting bad newscasts down here?

Sunday is going to be my best day again because the Saturday's before Halloween are full with Prison Support stuff for the upcoming Nov Supreme Ct hearings. So I was thinking of Sunday the 27th from 2:00 PM until around 8 or 9:00PM??? My sister in law said she'll help me decorate. What does everybody think??

NEVER FEAR TIGGER IS HERE.......LOL. I just couldn't refuse to say that. Anyhow I am glad to hear that everyone isn't mad at me or us for canceling. I feel so much like the horse's you know what....I don't have a problem with it being in October Kris is due for release on the 20th. The only problem is he doens't want to be around chidren. He has to be that way to make it safe for him. All it would take is one false accusation and away he goes. So I don't know if he will come or not. I will try and make it.
